Rogue One catch all thread

Episode 2 may be one of the worst movies ever made. I know when I'm starting an 'epic romance' I want my man to tell me how unlike I am from sand.

It is a shame though, I actually really enjoy the soundtrack for Attack of the Clones. Padme and Anakin suck, but their theme is beautiful.

One of Christensen' first lines - meant to be awkward - overshoots awkward and lands firmly in "laughably sucking"

Perhaps the worst dialogue ever...like "crazy/beautiful" and "mad love" bad...

Worse, actually

1. Rewatched the teaser trailer and I was amazed how much didn't make it to the movie. Some of it doesn't even fit into the story we got. I loved the movie but I still really want to see as many of these deleted/reworked scenes as possible on the bonus menus for the blu ray. If its a finished scene I hope there is an extended edition that adds the younger (bald) Saw giving the "what will you become" speech to what is likely a very young Jyn.

2.a No Star Wars title block was sorely missed.
2.b No Summery on the opening scroll of when we were and what was going on was also missed

3. The music score was not bad but it was not a memorable character like it should be. They really missed fusing in the classic themes (Imperial, Vader & The Force) with the new stuff they did. That being said the person was a fill in that only had 3-4 weeks to write this after the orignal person backed out.

4. Need to see it in IMAX!

Agree on all points...

Do they pay John Williams residuals? Is that why they almost went "hands off" with all sounds related to Star Wars...I get some of them didn't fit...but many could have

Excluding Episode 5 (the best) and Episode 4 ( for member berries) All other Star Wars movies are flawed in one way or another, but at the same time have shining moments. For me it is looking at the highs and lows moments and seeing how they stack up.

So for example (and not going through every high and low) Phantom Menace (which I rated last) has high points in the final Duel of Fate battle, Liam Neeson, and Palpatines plan. But that does not override Jar Jar, Anakin starting to young (and saying yippee to many times) and the whole Padme/Queen Decoy sideplot.

Return of the Jedi gets some props for the final space battle, the Emperor, and Luke being kinda a badass in the beginning going into Jabbas place. But it lose points for anything regarding Ewoks (which is much more Lucas selling out to toys then Jango Fett ever was), Boba Fett getting bested by a blind Han, Yoda sounding like Super Grover, and the whole "Shes your sister" twist.

So for Attack of the Clones we get lows like the whole Anakin/Padme romance and some horrible dialogue associated with it, and also the R2D2 video game level towards the end, but gains for a pretty good opening chase scene, Christopher Lee, expanded parts for Mace Windu and Yoda, And the Clone subplot in general with hidden planets is pretty good. Parts with Anakin and Padme are bad, parts with Obi Wan (with or without Anakin) are pretty good. Watching the only time we will probably ever see lots of Jedi kick *** along with Stormtroopers that actually can shoot is pretty excellent.

Again thats not every high/low for each of the movies but in the end AOTC highs/lows average out better the PM or ROTJ highs/lows for me.

Um...if you say so ;)

Well looks like 1,2,6 are in your bottom 3 as well, although not listed in preference. So I would be curious to see your reasoning. For me its not which one is always better, but less worse then the others. And when you get to the bottom 3 it really can be a toss up.

Jedi is my alltime favorite movie...and the second best overall Star Wars overall...Even with the ewoks

Why? Because it was a vast technological advancement over a new hope, it cemented the legacy of Star Wars as perhaps the most important movie/pop franchise of all time...and it tied the story together...

But the ewoks did suck. But if you are of my carbon date...nothing came along to eclipse Jedi as a visual spectacle for a LONG time...it was that much ahead of its time.

Now there's a new cgi nightmare every week.

It's as much about the significance as it is the movie itself.

My bad. I missed the 6 on the top of your list. And since this is a Rogue One thread I will not hijack it anymore, feel free to make something in the Community section or something if you feel like a debate on the merits of the movies. I will say that there is a excellent, although very hard to find now article called 50 reasons why RTOJ Sucks that is a great read. It does not invalidate your opinions, just a different take.

Oh gosh I don't even want to read what you're referring. Maybe those 2 could have got together given a lot more time. I mean, they're both really good looking so yeah, they were probably like...that other person is really good looking. Maybe if we're ever not fighting for our lives we can get space coffee. You might be able to interpret their scenes together as something brewing...but nothing ever really comes to the surface.

Someone above had stated that they were disappointed that there had to be a "romance" between the two protagonists - I was simply stating that there WASN'T ONE. (Because there wasn't one.) The original quote didn't come through, because I only know what I'm doing about half the time. :)

Hollywood agendas are Hollywood agendas...from a critics standpoint, Jedi sucks without much thought.

But who ever turns it off? Nobody. The ends don't justify the means...but there is some validity to it.

There is a definite bias/agenda between the force awakens reviews and those of rogue one...

I think disney heavily worked the phones last year and their statistical analysis said they had more of a flop this year and they tried to downplay it.

Because they don't get Star Wars...

Remember: Kathy kennedy worked for speilberg...she gets the Indiana Jones movies, not the Star Wars movies

There was more "romance" between Blaze and Chirrut than Jyn and Cassian...is everyone talking about the same characters?

:rotfl2:That scene happened to be on when we got home from the movie. Worst on-screen romance of all time. His acting is horrid and there is NO chemistry.

Seriously. It's more like Anakin is a creepy stalker and Padme is just some idiot. Really...who wears a skin tight leather outfit to dinner when you are trying to dissuade the creepy stalker kid from wanting to jump you. My biggest rant, however, is idiot Padme deciding to die from a broken heart even though she just brought two children into the world whose father is supposedly the epic love of her life.

Leia would not give up on life just because Han turned evil, I can tell you that. What a weak character. That movie would have been so much better had Anakin actually directly killed her.

Uh oh...let's not go here...it will take until Star Wars land is open to hash all the bad out...

As yoda would say "a dark, and twisted path down, do you journey..."

Padme actually died because Palpatine killed her (via the dark side) so he could have Vader as 100% his.

A que to this is that Palpatine knows that Padme is dead but she is light years away...and he wanted her dead.

And if they had said that...it would have provided some gravitas...but they didn't...

Instead that is relegated to the elaborate world of fan fiction and comic book conventions

I love the SW expanded universe and books and comics, but if it wasn't directly said/explained/shown in the movies it didn't really happen in the movies.

I still think it would have made Anakin an even more twisted character if he'd accidentally killed Padme because of his uncontrolled rage.

I have never read anything EU...actually never read anything SW that is now canon either. From my first viewing of EPIII I assumed that it was Palpatine who really killed Padme. It was the only option that made sense.

I read the review that was posted earlier about taking kids, and he worked it up that there were some very deeply intense/disturbing scenes. Did you find this to be true?
I didn't find that to be true at all - I went first so I could see if my 8 yr old could handle it because of these rumors and I didn't think it was any worse than any of the other ones.

Okay...so after watching I-II-III this weekend, outside of Jar Jar and the CGI, I actually don't think the movies are that bad. To be fair, I will completely admit that I am easily sucked into story lines that explain/connect to other story lines and I'm a sucker for a love story (even if the acting isn't the greatest I use my imagination to fill in the holes)...the whole transformation of Anakin to Darth Vader is interesting to me...add in the political aspects of the Senate and the Empire and I'm hooked. I can look past the crappy effects, etc. I also think there are interesting connections between the temperament of Anakin and the temperament of Kylo Ren - whiny, immature, can't control their anger, want to be the center of attention, etc.

But the ewoks did suck.
.

I also love the ewoks...but in my defense I was like 6 when ROtJ came out...so what 6 year old wouldn't love basically a big stuffed animal that saves the day (kindof) lol

It's hard to say what my "order" would be...I like them all, but I would probably say my top favorites (in no particular order) are R1, 7, 6, 4, 3 and then 5, 2, and 1.

Woah, woah, woah...is that a typo? Nobody has ever consciously put empire inbetween 1 and 2...or suck and suckier as they are known
