Wonder if Carrie Fisher was paid a royalty for her "appearance" in the movie? Wouldn't that be quick money?
Can't agree with you guys more today...
I thought jones was good...but I thought Diego Luna was FANTASTIC. Wow...did he create a good Star Wars character...if even though he will be trapped in a short time frame with it forever.
What the hell were those snotty critics watching?
The movie was not perfect but they picked the wrong things to complain about.
The complaint should be that the pacing/cuts were almost too fast...which is the lucas prequel mistake And exactly what empire strikes back is not.
And the music was written for a different Kind of movie...not Star Wars. Thats a "lucas" type move...fixing what isn't broken.
And the empire is - finally - ruthless, tyrannical and evil...not since palpatine in Jedi...or Vader in empire.
Enough anakin/Kylo ren "torn"/whiney stuff. Shoot/stab first...ask questions Later
Now that's somebody has made an actual Star Wars film...it's all on Rian Johnson...
Hopefully the Star Wars fans lap it up and blow the box office away...hopefully the foreign markets show up this time...
Because there should be expensive reshoots talked about between the presidio and Burbank RIGHT NOW if episode 8 isn't more of "this" and less of "that" from 2015
And one more: this movie did more to serve the Force Than the last 4 that were allegedly all about the force.
They returned the mysticism to it...the one that was created by a subtle elegance by Alec Guinness and Frank Oz and mark hamill and Ian mcdiarmid 30+ years ago.
The "defenders" of the temple...did more to advance the storyline than talking light sabers and midichlorians...maybe the most since the key force scene that really solidified the legend of the whole story: yoda lifting the ship and the Williams piece with it in empire
I'm emotionally spent...in a good way...
[/QUOTE]Jones was good. Her story was the most fleshed out, so it was easier to "root" for her. They kind of missed the mark on the odd developing love story with her and Cassian...I think that's what was happening....what did this movie take place over? Like two days?
Like I said, I really rooted for Chirrut, and Maze. There was a connection there, that needed a little more fleshing out. As well as Chirrut's ties to the Force.
I can't keep up with Rebels (I don't have DisneyDX), so trying to go back and watch all the Clone Wars stuff would be overwhelming, so Saw was kind of lost on me.
I thought they captured some of the daily Empire stuff fantastically. Power struggles - Tarkin is/was a creepy, plotting, bad *** dude.
I'm not a huge fan of Mendelson (I hated him The Dark Knight Rises), but he was pretty good as Krennic. Little guy (literally) trying to climb the Imperial Ladder. Vader's snark to him in their meeting was perfect.
I've read good things about Rian's take for Ep. VIII. I hope it all rings true. I think Disney is doing a pretty good job on taking a massive catalog, storyline, and creating something even hardcore fans can get behind. None of the movies are without their faults.
Wonder if Carrie Fisher was paid a royalty for her "appearance" in the movie? Wouldn't that be quick money?
I was able to watch the debut of this movie at Disney Springs!
What a great movie!! Exceeded all my expectations!!
I went in expecting a decent "filler" movie designed to give a small Star Wars fix until the next "real" movie came out.
Who would of thought we would get an absolutely fantastic movie that most fans are ranking in their top 3 of the Star Wars movie's?!?!?
It's been a long time since I felt like I had to watch a movie a 2nd time in the theatre and not wait for the Bluray to view again.
I think this is the first attempt that actually succeeded in touching the hardcore fans...and I think many if not most of those will re-evaluate their opinions of "The Reboot Awakens"...
I was ok with that until I saw a "little guy"...like Gareth Edwards...managed to take me back to the feeling of being a kid.
Let's face it: hasn't the real core of our frustration been since the 90's that no one of the vaunted Hollywood power brokers could put together a story that was comparable to the early 80's? Lucas embarrassed himself...Abrams barely tried...how is this that hard with an IP that is loved by the largest of audiences?
The force awakens praise lies a great deal in how awful the phantom menace was...it was just wanting anything that was better...not wanting a new Star Wars.
And make no mistake...the future of Star Wars is getting us middle aged pessimists scarred by 20 years of franchise mismanagement back in the front of the line...it's about us letting our kids watch the movies 50 times via digital the way we watched the VHS...it will spur the merch sales.
That is the business model, Hollywood geniuses
That's good. Hopefully this means that they will continue to allow future movies to take risks rather than playing it safe like TFA.Box office estimates are tracking higher...thursday and Friday about 20% higher than predictions...feel the force, fans...
