Rogue One catch all thread

Got our tix for Sunday morning!! Wasn't much left for Fri and Sat when I went to buy them as my 6 yr old won't do 3D. Going with DH and my 6 and 8 yrs old Star wars loving sons. I'm not previewing it before. I'm sure they'll be fine - they've watched all the other SW movies.

I would agree...

Taking the 8 and maybe the 7 year old tomorrow...

I'll know if there is long term psychological trauma by 9:45pm EST.

...either way...they'll forget by Friday morning ;)

Be curious to see your review relative to the violence and your kids reaction to it. My son is 7 and will be 8 in a month.

I'm not sure if this is allowed or not (linking a blog) but

http://www.disneytouristblog.com/rogue-one-star-wars-story-review/

give a favorable review. I enjoyed reading it from a cinematography critique stand point as I enjoy the author's Disney photography.

FWIW he said there shouldn't be hesitation to allow kids to watch it. Although I don't know if he has any of his own :)

YMMV enjoy!

LOL, you really liked TFA when it came out. So how long before we know what you really think about R1?:rolleyes1:hyper:

Boy i did try, didn't I?

If you'll recall...I really liked the feel of the movie and I was really optimistic that Disney wouldn't screw it up...

And while it was a vast improvement over the awfulquels...

There are a lot of rubs as well that are hard to shake. Like that they won't cop to a reboot...for one.

I'll not be so "optimistic" this time

Honestly...I never thought I needed to see Star Wars again. I call it by its original, non episodic name.

Because we got a lot of 2.0
In Jedi...it just looked way cooler. You know how many times I reenacted wedge flying through the second Death Star when I was 6?

So did we get 3.0?

It's ok but it's never gonna sit 100% right...but it also won't Ruin the franchise...cough

Now...I wouldn't mind a second run at the basic feel of empire. That would be ok. You can't rip off like you did this time...but a real gritty struggle would be fine.

A bit prophetic. We shall see.

Don't worry, we won't think less of you if you come on here and say you like it.

Lol...you seem to care a lot more about what I said than I do ;)

But no seriously...I am
Consistent...gotta give me that...and nobody on this space rock wants better Star Wars movies or more awesome Disney parks than me. Nobody.

But I won't disregard what I know to be true and allow the board of directors of the walt disney company to "persuade" me that they are doing these things if they are not.

It goes for this movie...and it goes for the land under snails construction at MGM. I demand accountabilty in exchange for lots of my money. It's only fair.

Slow day for me. Just wanted to stir up some good natured trouble.

I'm with you. . .sort of.

I walked out of TFA on cloud 9. The Pre-quels had been so horrible.

Subsequent viewings, took a lot of the luster off. Still, I love TAF for what it did:

Gave me new canonical Star Wars adventures. And who knows? Maybe next time it will be better. Optimism, Captain!

Eh, sorry, wrong franchise. ;-)

Brother!!! We have finally found each other!!!

...now we can sue that shoddy hospital that separated us in the nursery and probably get a settlement big enough to make our OWN Star Wars movie!!

I was the opposite of you. Felt underwhelmed on the first theater viewing as it seemed to be TOO much of a re-hash of the original. The second time, knowing what was coming story-wise, I took in little things I hadn't really noticed initially while enjoying the new characters more. The thing that still bothers me most about TFA is another Death Star-type weapon. That's hard to move pass as it's been the major plot point in three of the four "good" films.

I'm just hoping VIII has a unique story to tell within the structure of the ongoing Skywalker saga. Otherwise, TFA will seem more like a misfire and lose much of its goodwill for bringing back the feeling of the original trilogy.

I saw it last night. I absolutely loved it and is easily on par with ESB for me.

It's not force awakens and that may be why it's getting a few mixed reviews.

Star Wars fans will love it, so many Easter eggs and the final space battle is the best in ANY Star Wars film

Can't wait for 7:30 tonight!

Thank you...this is what I'm deep down expecting.

8 hours can't go by fast enough

The force awakens is so "safe"...it was practically filmed with bubble wrap on it...rian Johnson is the most important man in Hollywood right now

Well, as an attorney who's last firm had a senior partner who may have been *literally* insane. . .I've been in court on thinner cases. Plus, coming from a big Mexican family, we can slide one more chair in at the Christmas table and no one will notice, so. . .

Qu'est-ce que c'est, four good films? You are right though, Disney needs to get some self confidence. Here's hoping Rogue One gets them far enough away from the original trilogy, that Disney feels comfortable exploring the galaxy far, far away.

P.S. 11 Hours 15 minutes for me! Woo Hoo!

I count the official tally of "good" Star Wars films currently at 3.5...

I give Abrams half credit, ESB is legendary now, ANH looks like much better since 1999...and Jedi looks 10x the quality it did in 1983. Still better action than most that's come since...and deeper character story for the skywalkers
