this is the wayDon't pay any attention to list price. Set a dvcforless.com alert for the resort and UY you want. Then, every time a contract comes up that you'd be interested in, make an offer. Go in knowing the max you're willing to do - you can go in extra low with the intent to come up or just go in with what you'd do a deal for and leave your offer at that. You can try different strategies - go in with a lower $/point price, but agree to pay all closing costs and dues or go in with a higher $/point but asking seller to cover closing costs and dues (or some combination). Be willing to walk if it's not a deal you'd be happy with.
You'll eventually find a seller who is willing to sell for well below average market prices.

Definitely all of this. Asking price is not what you have to pay. Get an idea of what you’d be happy with and start making offers on contracts that fit your needs.Negotiations. Dont be afraid to offer less than what it’s listed at.

Damn there's some good CCV deals out there, I'd be awfully tempted if I was in the market.
I would personally go CCV over AKV for dues. I still love AKV generally over CCV but CCV is harder to get into and has better dues and is still an amazing resort.Put in for a few AKV contracts but might have to pivot to a CCV contract.

I've become more convinced than ever that CCV is the most undervalued of the O14 resorts. It has the longest contract of any of them, it has quite reasonable dues, and its points chart is very reasonable. Some months, the site sponsor shows average resale prices as higher for both BLT (which has 8 years less on its contract) and BCV (which has 26 years less but, granted, is in a different category).Damn there's some good CCV deals out there, I'd be awfully tempted if I was in the market.
Buying what you know you like and where you will be happy staying is never a bad strategy. I will tell you that I bought CCV sight unseen - had never even stayed at WL. Did lots of video tours before pulling the trigger, and ran lots of numbers. I was only willing to do it if the deal I got on a resale contract was good enough that I could easily sell it after a year with little or no loss. I did my first week stay earlier this month and have zero regrets - just wanted more CCV points!I was just kidding. Going to stick with AKV. It’s the only resort we know. Will try to get to other resorts over time.

Biggest downside to CCV is you can't fit 5 in a studio or a 1 BR. And, I can understand how that is a dealbreaker for some.

But, the thing about resale is, there are always new contracts coming along, so there really isn't any rush to buy. And, although I haven't paid a lot of attention to AKV, I'm sure you can score a great deal there too if you're patient and wait for the right contract to come along.
