I don't think this is true. I stopped by the Golden Vine DVC Sales Center at California Adventure yesterday and a guide there told me she checks first thing each morning for VGC points inventory and has very rarely ever been able to grab any.The two contracts that I had ROFR in April and March only had 2025 UY Points (they were at $225 w/ 250points and $230 w/ 270 points). BUT it's possible they've had a harder time selling those points than they originally guessed. I would not be surprised if they get a lot of interest in VGC from their VDH marketing pipeline, but they've had a difficult time closing those due to the high cost per point
They are definitely being sold. June and Dec are VERY popular UYs…. So that might create another buying wave for add ons…Don't assume that DISers are the only ones buying VGC directly. Just because no one here talks about buying these ROFR'd contracts, that does not mean they are not being sold.
I would have bought some direct points, just wasn't willing to pick up a new UY to do it. I'm keeping my eyes open for indicators that DVC is ROFRing contracts with 2024 UY points.Don't assume that DISers are the only ones buying VGC directly. We had a call from a guide a few days ago offering us 100 points February UY. We told them we only wanted them if they were June UY and they came back and said that they could make that happen in a few days. We then asked if it included 2024 points and were told there would be no 2024s. We told them for that price and no 2024 points that we weren't interested. With the limited number of years left those missing points were our breaking point on buying direct. We already bought a 200 point vgc last year that had 2023 points for $240 per point resale. It would have been nice to add on 100 points direct but the price is steep for what you actually get.I would have bought some direct points, just wasn't willing to pick up a new UY to do it. Given that 50 pointers often go for $290pp, at $330pp it’s only a $2k difference. For a while, we thought about doing a small direct VGC. But in the end, it just didn't make sense for us since it wouldn't be enough to get any member benefits. I couldn't rationalize spending $8000 more for the same amount of points. Maybe it would "even out" if the resale one is stripped but I don't know. The initial upcharge is just too much for me. So I told my guide to stop looking last year. (Not that he was really looking anyway...because my guide is a dud.)

To get the lower cost pp, you have to buy larger contracts…. so it goes back to how many points you want to buy.
Good for you for saying no. They can be surprisingly inflexible sometimes. Why wouldn't you get 2024 points when the UY is June and June hasn't passed yet?We had a call from a guide a few days ago offering us 100 points February UY. You can get a different guide. I found the guide that showed us around the vdh in California was also a dud. Well I wouldnt say a dud exactly, but way more pushy than other guides we've encountered, said they worked in real estate sales before and it showed. I didnt see a passion for Disney there like our Fl guide. Felt almost like a run of the mill timeshare presentation after the viewing. For a while, we thought about doing a small direct VGC. Ahhh okay so they weren't just being difficult. Makes sense after you clarify as always! With sold out resorts, they have to still have them to sell. If the VGC points they have in stock from either RiFR, foreclosure, etc had already used the points then they can’t add them back.
Since these points were a Feb UY, and we are in the Feb 2025 UY, it no longer has 2024 points to sell to someone
Changing the UY doesn’t change that. So, that is why you can’t always get them for sold out resorts, especially if it’s a UY change.
Had this been an Oct UY and it had 2024 points, changing it to June and getting 2024 points would have worked.
I'm guessing that they would probably wait to do the closing till June 1st in order to avoid giving the 2024 points. We already own 200 resale GC points so it's not a "have to have" situation for us. We also already own 300 direct dianeyland points so it would only gain us the ability to use those GC direct points at Riviera (we own resale there) or the cabins at fort wilderness buying them direct and they cost cost to much in my opinion to use the at the Fort.Good for you for saying no. That does make sense if the contract they were selling us didn't have 2024 points. Maybe they will work some magic and offer us another contract that has 2024s available. I still feel like $330 is too steep for us and our situation. With sold out resorts, they have to still have them to sell. I recently got a new guide. I sent in an inquiry for VGC and a guide (not mine) called me a few days later. She said she saw the inquiry and that my guide had been out on leave for over a year and there was no way to know if or when she'd be back. The one who called explained the VGC situation and offered to check daily for me for a suitable contract. She said she didn't need to be my guide to help me, but if I wanted her to be my official guide, I needed to email her stating that I want her for my guide going forward. I sent the email and she did whatever she needed to with the email and is now my guide.I really don't need a guide at this point. But if we do ever decide to purchase direct, I will definitely have to figure out how to get a new guide!
I really like my guide but I have never met him. I can say the guide I met at Poly was pretty great and I would've felt really bad had I decided I wanted Poly and didnt use him. I really think finding someone who you like in person is a great idea.I really don't need a guide at this point. Yes i had to do this too because my guide was reassigned by the computer after i chatted with a different guide online regarding some questions i had.I recently got a new guide. Long story short, I think when you are on property, if you meet someone that you like, you can ask them to become your guide. You'll have to do the email request, but it's easy.
I saw this one and I was lurking around it! It's our UY and it was very tempting!Mkatsy---$100-$5967-50-BRV@WL-Apr-0/24, 66/25, 50/26, 50/27- sent 5/19
