**ROFR Thread 2015 July-December** Please read 1st post for instructions

I have no idea why Disney passes on some contacts and takes others, there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to it at all.

I would guess they intentionally ROFR some random contracts just to keep people guessing. If they followed a set pattern, buyers/sellers would get wise to the exact fine line they can walk and still get past ROFR. Then no one would ever put out an offer that fell below the ROFR-level, and DVD would not be able to repurchase points when they needed them. They'd eventually have to resort to randomly ROFRing contracts when they need the points, which is pretty much what they're doing now.

Our first attempt at becoming DVC members and the 30 day wait is absolutely killing me! I'm paying the closing and a portion of the MF for the available points. Hopefully this makes the contract a little less attractive for Disney.

I've decided that they just hold things in ROFR for the 30 days or so in order to keep a group of contracts available for direct DVC sales. When they decide to sell an older location, they just pull the lowest contract with the minimum number of points. There isn't much rhyme or reason otherwise.

Sure !

Basically, Disney can't combine points from different unit numbers into one contract for selling that new contract (or new to the buyer, anyway).

So, one contract that has stripped points and a higher price may be bought back solely to complete the required amount that matches the unit number they already have available for sale. Say you want 250 BWV points. Say Disney already has 100 points available that are, I don't know, 0.1% in unit 61A of BWV. Assume two contracts are up for ROFR- one is 150 points in unit 17A and the other is in unit 61A. They are going to buy back the second one because it's like the missing piece of the puzzle they need to sell the same unit number for the requested amount of points. This is why you see so many weird buybacks of ones that are stripped and at higher prices at the same time that the same resort, same UY, and same amount of points goes through, loaded and at a lower price per point.

This was $15 more than my 1st (50 point OKW) purchase in April, but the fact that it's loaded and no maintenance fees due this year makes it pretty equivalent! Super excited for more points if The mouse doesn't take them!
