We're leaving to Walt Disney World on Saturday and my husband is begging me to promise him that I will go on Rockin' RollerCoaster in MGM.

I don't like rollercoasters - I hate drops. I rode the Coaster California Screamin' in DCA and about died. I don't mind the loops.. it's the whole clicking up and going straight down. I have never rode Splash Mountain, but love Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain.

Can you please tell me more about this ride and you opinions on how I may like or dislike it?

Though whatever anyone says, I will still be nervous to wait in line. Ahh!

Been on plenty of coasters and it is probably the smoothest and best ride of any I've been on. It is so much better than SM, so you will be fine, no jerking. It is indoors, in the dark too so you won't see the track and it doesn't even go very high. You will only see the neon street signs you wiz past.

You should try Splash Mtn. Other than the drop there you can see, it truly is a gentle kiddie type boat ride. I was so shocked to get inside with all the characters and music.

I don't like roller coasters either(Hated space mount. Splash mount and ToT) Thunder Mountain is ok for me. I didn't mind RnR., at least one time. The main thrill is at the begining on the take off.

Well, there certainly is no clicking up!!! The drops are NOT bad on this one but there are loops and corkscrews. If you only dislike drops, you should be okay. This is a marvelous ride and you really do not want to miss it!!! I should be riding it this time next week!!! Hooray!!! I definitely don't rate it high on the scary scale as far as world class coasters go, but as an attraction, it is not to be missed. Hope you like it!!!

There's no gravity hill (the click-clack climb) on RnRC. I love it - ride it every time as much as I can.

RNRC has no major drops, and doesn't have a lift hill, in the traditional sense. It's actually a launch mechanism, you are launched parallel to the floor, and then you go into loops and stuff.

RnR is no big deal, it does NOT have any drops, it has i think two loops and in the dark, so to be its better because you cant see anything. to me the best thing about the coatser is when you take off, it goes from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds and that is when they take your picture....(you will look like you got the _______ scared out of you) :rotfl:

let me just say this about Splash Moun. if you dont ride splash you have really missed out on something that is very speical and the drop is nothing compared to what you rode in CA.

I promise that if you get scared on any of these two rides you can come hunt me down... :rotfl2:

brooke :flower:

Its also a very quick ride, so it will be over before you know it! Other than that, its not bad. My 7 year old went on it and never had a problem!

I too don't really like coasters, but love RnR. I don't like Space M., and ToT. I will go on Thunder M. only once. I think I like RnR because there isn't any big drops.

This ride is all about SPEED. It's very smooth and very fast, no real drops (at least not the kind that take your stomach!). Also very quiet, none of the "click click click" you associate with regular roller coasters. When it takes off, be prepared - you'll be plastered to the back of your seat!!

I've talked my DH into going when we're there in Oct. I've been twice and loved it. He hates roller coasters but has promised he'll try this one since there's no drops and jerky motions (of course, I had to bribe him a bit... ;) )

My only advice is when or if you decide to ride RnRC, just put your head against the back of the seat before take off. That will keep you from having that whiplash feeling when you take off. It's a great rush! We always ride it 1st thing at MGM. Like another poster said "it's over quickly" so if you ride and don't like it, it won't last long.

I do not go on any roller coasters at all. I don't like them but my mother has back issues but went on it anyway. Well she loved it and told me that I had to try it. NO DROPS and no clicking. It is all about the speed and you hear the music so it makes it all the more better.

I hope you give it try!

:cool1:

I absolutely love roller coasters. BUT, that take off makes me about lose it . . . laughing. The initial take off is really intense, I mean really . . . The take off is about 1 second too long, if you know what I mean. I love it, you might not. I'm not convinced you should do it. :wizard:

do it do it do it do it!!!

It is my 2nd fav ride n the whole wdw family, ToT being #1. Like others have said, you don't have the clank of listening and watching yourself go up the hill. You take off really fast and after that other than a loop and corkscrew it isn't too far off from from BTM or Sm, just faster, but smoother. There are no stomach fearing drops at all.

I have to agree with the general population. I also hate drops. I can't do ToT and have actually waited in long lines for other coasters but chickened out at the last minute. BUT.... I rode RnR last summer for the first time and really enjoyed it. The biggest difference is that you go into the first loop from a straightaway. No gradual climb and steep downhill at all. So if you don't mind speed and can handle the loops (isn't it strange that I'm ok with loops but not drops?!! :confused3 ), then you should be fine on this coaster. ENJOY!!!!

Thank you so much for all of the repsonses. I am surprised to see not a single person said not to go on it. I think I am leaning towards going on it. Though, when I get there I was be so nervous. Ahh! I think I will try to keep my decision a secret from the DH for as long as possible.

California Screamin' (the ride I rode and died on) has that shoot off at the beginning too. Of course it scares you at first, but I can handle that. I just didn't like that it was going to shoot me up the hill just to go back down. :(

We're in WDW for 8 days, I will have to try RnR on the first day or two - just in case I like it. My husband will be so thrilled if I say I want to ride a second time!

Thanks!

I could have written this original post. I have never been on a big roller coaster. I hate drops also. I don't do Splash Mountain or Space Mountain (I have done them each once), and I tolerate Thunder Mountain.

Anyway, on our trip last month my DH really wanted me to try RnR, he and the kids love it. He didn't pressure me but I knew he wanted me to try. I finally worked up the nerve and did it. It was really smooth and FAST. You get the speed with the take-off so you don't have to go up a big hill. I was so nervous before the take-off that my mouth was dry as a bone. But you know what? It was fun!! And I had such a sense of accomplishment after I did it.

My tips: Either get a fastpass or go when there is virtually no wait. Standing for a while would have just allowed me to think too much about it and chicken out.

Also, Don't watch the take-off while you are waiting. DH wanted me to but I knew it would make me more nervous.

Remember, it is a really short ride. I kept asking DH when we pulled up to stop "That's it?? It's over?? That's it??"

Also, I sang along with the song (Sweet Emotion, I don't think I'll ever forget it), I found it helped.

I think it's great if you don't tell your DH, that's what I did. It had to be my idea, on my terms. We went to MGM one night and I said "Let's go do RnR." He almost fell over.

Whatever you decide, have fun. Did I like it? Yes. Did I love it? Not really, it's not really my thing. Am I glad I did it? Definitely. We went back to MGM a few days later and I didn't do it, simply because I didn't want to be nervous again and the fact that I had done it, I knew what it was all about.

Have a great trip!!!

Waiting area takes you into an area that looks like a studio where Aerosmith is going over some tracks, then manager works it out for everyone to come with them to the concert. then you get funneled into the area for the ride. You are in a coaster that looks like a car - then from a dead stop it goes 0-60 in 2.8 seconds - no clicking start - there are some calm loops, no big dips. This ride is smooth and is set to music by Aerosmith which is piped in through the headrest. We went last week during extra magic hours in the morning and got right on with no wait and at the end of the day did the same. Hope this gives you a better understanding and gets you ready for a fun ride.

I have been on California Screamin more times than I can count. It is much longer and has couple of biggie drops that RNRC does not have. That initial drop on Screamin is intense because unlike coasters where you go up the hill slowly before dropping, you are launched at 55mph and the next thing you know you are going down that big hill! I agree about keeping your head back on RNRC. Although it is smooth by coaster standards it is not quite as smooth as Screamin is. Its in the dark and so short and with the music playing it goes so quick. Give it a try, if you survived Screamin you can do this one I promise!
