OK, here's the deal..I'm a huge roller coaster chicken. I ride SM and BTMR with no trouble, but I've never been on Rockin Roller Coaster at MGM or Dinosaur at AK. We're going to WDW this Saturday for the EE opening, and I've promised the short people in my life that I'll ride it. (Having seen the videos, I'm nervous, but I think I'll be OK.) The problem is that somehow (mind control?), they've made me promise to also ride RR and Dinosaur.

So, tell the truth...how bad are they? Be blunt and spare no details...I need to be prepared!

I don't like surprises and something with big teeth, so I stay away from Dinosaur. Heck, the Universe of Energy at EPCOT is enough dinos for me!! It isn't a rollar coaster though, more of an adventure thrill ride.

RnR, on the other hand, is great. It's fast and in the dark. Yes, there are several inversions and watching that car just suddenly screech off as you wait in line can be nerve wracking when you don't know what to expect, but with that Aerosmith soundtrack it makes it so much fun. I love RnR and am too big a chicken to ride ToT anymore. I think if you can handle Everest you can enjoy RnR. :)

I'm having the same issue - although I don't have to worry about riding EE until April '07 because it won't be open when we go in Feb. Last night I went on a website that has videos of all the rides (I paid $2.50 to be able to view them for a month) and I guaged them to see how bad they might be. I actually think this Feb I'll be able to go on RNR, BTMRR, and maybe Space Mountain, and I'm psyched! I'm a mega chicken, and it's taken me a long time to gather up the courage to do "drop rides". I've only ridden POTC a handful of times because of the drop, but after watching the video of it last night I said to my DFi "that's it? That's what I'm so afraid of?!". The website I looked at is www.bigfloridacountry.com. HTH!

Rockin....best ride in all th parks outside of ToT...lol

This only hard part of the ride is the takeoff, after that 2 seconds it is smooth sailing and nothing but fun.

Dinosaur...ehhh, no drop not fast...just kind of cool effects to look at. Nothing to be scared of at all with this ride.

RnRC is very smooth after the initial take off. I'd rather ride it than SM. To me, SM is way too bouncy and although I love the ride, I always feel slightly queasy afterwards because of all of the herky-jerky motion. (Triceratop Spin also makes me nauseous.)

Dinosaur is also jerky, but for some reason, that doesn't bother me as much. Maybe because it is more heavily themed, and the story elements are very strong throughout the ride.

I'm 54 and ride everything except spinning/circle rides - the tea cups, astro orbiter, etc. If you are fine with SM and BTMR, I would go for it. Although I absolutely love riding Space Mountain, I think I'm even a little more pre-ride nervous about it than RnRC. RnRC and Dinosaur are favorites of mine.

Dinosaur is a very jerky ride. I had to ride a few times to get the story and special effects because the first times I was too busy just hanging on. :) I think it is quite fun. Are you more concerned about the ride itself or the dinosaurs?

RnRC is fast and smooth - and short. The take off is amazing. You're in the middle of the ride before you even have time to think about it. If you decide you don't want to watch the inversions, just close your eyes. You can keep them open the next time. It's fun and everyone seems to have a smile on their face when it is over. :) Your kids will love that you rode with them. Get the photo - it's a hoot.

RnR is fast, smooth and quick. You can ride this if you can ride BMTRR.

Dinosaur is a lot like Space Mt. in that it's dark and has a jerky ride. The dinosaurs that roar at you are easilt seen so you can be prepared. What I don't like about Dinosaur is the jerky part. The special effects are good, but not the best at WDW.

I'll say this about Dinosaur....I rode it last week and it was LOUD. Louder than I ever remember it being. It made my ears ring uncomfortably and it wasn't just me. In our ride photo at the end, everyone in our car save for one older lady was clapping their hands over their ears. My ear was bothering me for the rest of the day, so let's just say they need to turn the volume of that down.

As for RnR coaster, I used to love this ride, but it just jars my head around too much now. I don't like feeling my head rattling on my shoulders...it doesn't bother my DH, but lately it's really begun bothering me. I am 32, btw, and a huge coaster freak. I just like my rides to be smoother...so I much prefer the ToT.

I can't comment on Dinosaur (will do that for the first time on our upcoming trip) but RNR is a different story. I LOVE this ride. I however do not like rides w/ inversions... but w/ RNR it's all over so quickly you'll hardly have time to worry about it. Give it a shot. I bet you'll love it!!

I love both of these rides. I'm not a big roller coaster fan, I only ride them at WDW. And before I rode the roller coasters there I would never get on one.

Dinosaur is just fun. It's not fast, it's a little jerky, but still the scenery and theming are great. There is a little big of scary dinosaur stuff at the end but it's just for a second. It's probably one of my favorite rides.

Rock n Roller Coaster- the most intense part of this ride are the first two seconds. I actually like it a lot better than Space Mountain, because it is so smooth. SM sometimes hurts my neck after I ride it too much. there aren't any huge drops in RnRC, and the loops aren't anything to worry about. I say give them a shot. If you hate it, you don't ever have to do it again, but if you don't do it, you'll never know.

I can't speak for dinosuar, but I rode RR this summer, and I had NEVER been on a coaster that would turn me upside down. I rode it with my eyes closed the entire time and survived, would I go again, if I had to yes, was it bad - not at all. I just didn't want to see myself go upside down. I didn't know the first thing you did was go upside down and I never ever felt it. I probably would have chickened out if it wasn't for my 12 year old daughter and she loved it so much she rode it again later in the week with my husband.

I feel for you-I'm a roller coaster chicken too! As one chicken too another, let me say that Dinasour is one of my favorite rides. The ride is jerky, but there are no big drops, no spinning and no loops. I love the special effects and my kids love it when I pretend like I'm scared of the dinasours (okay, maybe I'm not pretending).

RnR was over so fast that I didn't have time to decide whether I was scared. As others have said, it is very smooth and being upside down didn't bother me much because the ride was over before I had time to think about it.
