Our family doesn't ever do DHS on our trips, but our kids have decided that they're ready to try it - because they're anxious to do ToT and RnRc (darn thrill ride junkies:rotfl:) Me? I hate rides that drop. Spin me, send me upside down, twist me through corkscrews, speed me at 60 mph, just DON'T. DROP. ME. I'm perfectly content to take the chicken exit every time on EE and Splash Mtn. I'll ride Space Mtn. as a compromise, but I really kind of hate it. I love BTMRR, so those little dips don't bother me, I just hate those rides with steep drops.

Sooo, my question is - and I haven't really found a good answer anywhere on the internet - does RnRc drop. I know it speeds, loops and twists, but does it drop? And if it does, would you compare it to EE and Splash or more like BTMRR? Thanks!

In my opinion its so much more intense than Splash Mountain and BTMRR. Its a lot faster and Rock & Roller Coaster is constantly fast, like splash mountain there are parts were you will just be floating around but in RnRC your going fast the intire time. Also RnRc is alot shorter its maybe 90secs long

If you find EE extreme pass on RNR the take off into the loop may put you over the edge.:)

RNRC is a different type of coaster than the others you mentioned. It gets its speed from the catapult launch in the beginning. That's as fast as you go. Other coasters get their speed from being pulled to the top of a hill and then dropping. That doesn't happen on RNRC. If you can handle speed, twists, turns and partial loops, that's about all you need to worry about on RNRC. I wouldn't compare it to any of the other coasters you mentioned.

Drops are about the only things that bother me on the other coasters, so I really enjoy RNRC knowing there is no big drop in the beginning.

It takes you upside down several times (three, I think) but there are no serious drops, like in Splash Mt. Or EE.

Boy, you guys are fast! Thanks for the replies. I definitely don't like EE, but again, it's because of that slow chug, chug, chug up the hill and knowing that I'm going to be plunging down that steep drop. :scared: Like I said, speed and loops don't bother me at all. As long as I know that I'm not going to be dropping before or after I loop, I think I'd be ok. I guess I may have to give it a try. Now ToT? That's not even an option!!!

This. There are no drops. From what you've said, you don't mind the twisting, turning, corkscrew thingys. You just don't like drops. There are no drops. The catapult is a weird sensation, but not anything like a drop.

I am just like you..I hate that chug chug chug up the hill and then drop..let me just say RNRC is awesome..It does not drop like that...Its super fast and up and down with curves and such but never a huge drop. Its my favorite ride in all of Disney and im not a coaster kind of girl.

No drops on Rock n Roller Coaster.

From what you describe, I think you will love it.

And yes, from what you describe, you would definitely hate Tower of Terror. :goodvibes

Can I ask why specifically you don't like Space Mountain? There aren't any drops in that one either. I am only asking because RnRC, I guess, is more similar to Space (in the dark, no big drops), however much more intense.

I had forgotten the technical name of the "catapult launch" I described earlier. I remember it now: linear induction. A bunch of heavy duty magnets on the track and opposite-charged big magnets on the coaster vehicle pull the vehicle at a high velocity immediately. This eliminates the need for the old-fashioned gravity drop for speed. Surely it uses unbelievable amounts of electricity, but it allows for a lot less track to have to be laid to create a big hill for a drop. Linear induction is used heavily in parks that feature extreme thrill coasters, and is actually used on the Peoplemover, though that's not quite the thrill ride RNRC is. ;)

RnR is pure, sweet, smooth awesomeness! No drops at all. That's one of the reasons it's my all time favorite ride. I don't like heights or falls.

I rode ToT once in 2002, even though I knew I wouldn't like it. I'm still in counseling. ;)

I feel drops on Space Mtn, so there must be something that provides that same sensation. The reason I tolerate it is because I don't know that the drops are coming (no chug, chug, chug up a hill and well, it's dark) so the anticipation of the drop isn't there.

Both of these big rides at disney are in the top 5. RnRC is our #1!

I understand the fear of falling though. But you are missing a really great ride in ToT. Think of it more like bouncing, and I'll bet you'll love it!

I hated ToT, don't love space, am ok with SM, I love EE, BTMRR, and RnR with the exception of the 3 seconds at the beginning which I will gladly sit through for the rest of the ride. Super smooth ride, no huge drops, really fast. I think you will be fine. I hate huge drops like ToT, but somehow EE doesn't really bother me. I think I do fine if isn't straight down?

I don't have a fear of falling, and I hated this one. I think it was all the bouncing up and down that got me. I just didn't like the feeling of my insides sloshing up and down like that over and over.

No chug, chug in ToT either - and it's dark there too :P
