Rock 'N' Roller Coaster - the honest truth

All I can say, is all of you are very brave and I bow down to you...I have no memory except the most extreme fear I have every felt in my entire life when I rode this ride, and I really did think I was going to die...I really really did.
I had to get the photo to remind me to never ever tempt fate again ;)

Guess which one I am?

I'm guessing not 'Batman' in the back? He looks bored!

RnR is all inversions and turns, but zero steep drops. There are some gradual inclines, but nothing that is usually considered a "drop" by typical roller coaster standards, and even then you may not feel the descent as much as you would on a traditional roller coaster because it's dark.

If you don't mind having the track layout spoiled for you, here is a picture of a roller coaster that uses the same design: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m5iyzpHZzv1r1e3nno1_1280.jpg

That is Superman, now called Xpress, at Six Flags Holland. It's a clone of RnRC, just outdoors without the theming. POVs are available online for a look at what RnRC is like in the daylight.

Boy, you guys are fast! Thanks for the replies. I definitely don't like EE, but again, it's because of that slow chug, chug, chug up the hill and knowing that I'm going to be plunging down that steep drop. :scared: Like I said, speed and loops don't bother me at all. As long as I know that I'm not going to be dropping before or after I loop, I think I'd be ok. I guess I may have to give it a try. Now ToT? That's not even an option!!!

I haven't looked recently, but I'm fairly certain that there are first person POV videos of RnRC with the lights up on youtube. Watch one of those to get a feel for whether you'd be OK.

As an aside, you'd probably love the Hulk at Universal - it's my favorite roller coaster launch ever. I know what you mean about the dread of going up the hill ... whenever I'm on one of those roller coasters I always have a "I changed my mind!" feeling during that part.

RnR is my favorite coaster ever. I find the thing a complete rush. I can't compare it to EE because I've never been but it's light years beyond BTMRR in intensity at least IMO.

If you want to get extremely technical (geeky) because of the extra weight of the onboard music system, RnR launches a tiny bit faster 57mph vs. 55.9 and the transitions are a big more "spacious". But otherwise they are extremely similar.

I got two of my coaster-wary friends on RnR several years back. Usually BTMRR is their max for roller coasters. They needed a little "liquid courage" to be brave enough to try RnR.

The funny thing is that RnR is so smooth, both of them swore up and down that they didn't go upside down! :goodvibes

I am slowly getting more and more brave when I ride RnRC. The first time I rode it (2009), I vowed "never again" because of the launch at the beginning. And I LOVE California Screamin' in Cal Adventure, so I was very surprised that RnRC freaked me out so much.

I have been on it a few times in more recent trips, but I always have to give myself a pep talk while standing in line.

That being said, am I the only one who gets freaked out at the *very* end when you stop in that long hallway prior to the turn when you actually get out of the ride car? I mean, it seems like you stay stopped there for a LONG time and I am always freaked out that the car behind us is going to rear-end our ride car. LOL. I know that is just me being a nervous nellie, but at that point in the ride I just want to get out of my seat and fix my hair ;)

It's relatively tame, as far as coasters go.
I would say Space Mountain is more rough than R&R.

It only has one real drop that you can feel. I never notice going upside down (in terms physically feeling uncomfortable. Feels the same, as it's so quick).

The biggest thrill is simply when it shoots off at the beginning.

It launches into corkscrews, right? That didn't feel like upside down to me, either. It just felt like dying. Forces so strong on my chest that I couldn't breathe. Wasn't a good feeling.

I like a proper loop, but corkscrews in the dark don't thrill me.

RnR is pure, sweet, smooth awesomeness! No drops at all. That's one of the reasons it's my all time favorite ride. I don't like heights or falls.

I love RnR and I hate going upside down! The loud music, the fast speed, the dark - it is amazing! Now I saw a picture of it once with the lights on - I would never ride that ride - but my dark RnR - love it. LOL :rotfl:

I would ask for the front part of the car on RnR The back seems more "jerky" to me. When I was there 2 weeks ago, I asked for the front part of the car when they assigned me to the last row and I got row 1! I love RnR!

I believe it launches into a loop. The corkscrews are later. :)
