Rock 'N' Roller Coaster - the honest truth

Space mountain has 3 drops, the third being the biggest. The thing that might affect you is take off on RnR because you see it from the queue. The sound of the car peeling away always freaks me out and I force myself to remember its an audio tape. I will be truthful that I hate the take off. But it's only at the beginning and after that I love it. The loop and corkscrews don't bother me. Plus as a bonus I love the music. Really get into it. My DD19 has been a huge Aerosmith fan for 8 yrs.

If you ever find any of the "roller coasters" jerky ride in the front. RnR and EE we always ride in the front(whips us around too much in the back), Space Mountain and BTMR we always ride in the back. Last time I rode ToT was omg 16 yrs ago. I almost lost it as the doors closed I knew I could never ride it again. Everything I hate, the dark, heights and closed in spaces. I've been riding Space Mountain 35 yrs. so I can still handle the dark there.

BTW riding RnR in the front the billboard signs keep it pretty lit up.

I am not a coaster girl at all. However, I am married to a coaster fanatic, who is slowly turning all three of our young kids into coaster lovers.

The thing for me, though, is that I know that Disney's version of thrill rides is usually not beyond what I can handle. I enjoy Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain and Splash. Last June, I went to DHS for the first time in years and knew I wanted to give RNR (and TOT) a try.

I was OK with TOT, but I loved RNR...and what everyone is saying about the anticipation for the launch is true. We had an added twist. On our very first ride, we were ready to go. The countdown started...and then...NOTHING! We just sat there.

It sort of took the edge off, because I half believed that the next time, nothing would happen. Oh, but it did.

Those first few seconds are not to be believed, but I had so much fun. I think I do better on rides where I can't see what is going to happen.

No drops, though.

It's probably my favorite ride at Disney now. :goodvibes

This caught my attention, because for me, it's exactly the opposite. The takeoff which takes my breath away is my favorite part. I love it.

The only part of the ride that bothers me are the loop and the corkscrews. Causes some temporary queasiness which soon dissipates (though I've never tried to ride the ride more than twice in a row...)

Interesting how different things bother different people. :goodvibes

I'm a little different than most. EE terrifies me near the end with the fast drop down and then swooping back in to the mountain. I was in tears at the end and will require a serious bribe to ever go on it again.

If I had ridden EE first, I would never have gone near RnR. Lucky for my husband, we did HS on our princess braves the coasters trip last year. I don't like speed, fast turns, drops, going upside down, feeling weightless, getting jerked around, or heights. Not shockingly, I avoid most thrill rides. I rode RnR out of love since it is my husband's favorite ride of all time and he wanted to share. I didn't hate it. It might have even approached fun. The launch gets rid of the dreaded lift hill and the dark disorients you enough that you might not know when you are upside down. I don't ever recall a drop sensation. And it is over so fast that you'll done before you have time to consider whether you are surviving.

For comparison, I love Big Thunder, kind of like Space (jerkiness hurts my neck), and am petrified on Splash.

So I say go! You'll be proud for having done it.

I feel drops on Space Mtn, so there must be something that provides that same sensation. The reason I tolerate it is because I don't know that the drops are coming (no chug, chug, chug up a hill and well, it's dark) so the anticipation of the drop isn't there.

Do you ride POTC? I ask because the drop at the beginning gets me every time (yah I'm a baby)! As you mentioned earlier I can handle everything but the drop! RNR is the ONLY coaster I will ride and it took DH years to get me on it but now I love it! There is a very small drop into the unloading area at the end of the coaster. Most people do not even notice it but because of my hatred for the drops I bring it up. It is MUCH shorter and easier than POTC, but it is there.

We were in HS during YOAMD and won time in the park as a group of 500 after closing. It was really cool. We had a special concert and everything. That was the night DH got me to ride RNR. There was no line so I could not chicken out. We rode it 7 times in a row!!!!!

Hope this helps.

I opted out of RR for a couple trips, but rode all others... Finally my family convinced me to try it a few years ago and I've been on several times since. I don't remember notable drops, but yes on speed, twists, turns & loops. No airborne feeling & very smooth/ secure feeling in your seat.

Not so much with Space Mountain as I always feel like I could fall out of the cart at certain turns & drops... I still think that Space Mountain feels like tougher ride than all of them!

I am also terrified of drops. I do Splash but I hate that drop. I don't even like the little ones on BTMRR and Space. EE drop is ok because of the turn at the bottom(but that backward part makes me want to hurl after the second ride so 2 is my limit). That said....I LOVE RnR. Love it. Could go back to back several times. It doesn't really feel like you're dropping at all. Go.

It's interesting reading through these replies. I love coasters but RRC is one of the few I said I would probably not ride again (never say never). As much as I love thrill rides, I HATE the high speed launch on this ride. The funny thing is, it doesn't bother me on The Hulk or The Mummy, maybe because they're already in motion when they launch, but sitting there waiting on RRC was the longest few seconds of my life!

That being said, I don't like being defeated so maybe I'll give it another try one day.

I agree fully. Space mountain is very jarring and if you have back or neck problems you will walk away with a little discomfort. Personally I dont see why they couldnt have given us the same G-Forces without the harshness.

RRC is very smooth, I am a big wuss, after driving now for close to 900,000 miles and being involved in a few rear end shunts over the years , my neck easily gets sore.

I LOVE the RRC and my only tip is, that the launch feels worse than others , is because it starts you from a position of travelling backwards and not static. At the green light you move backwards maybe a few feet before the drive kicks in. My advice at the green light, take a breath and hold for the 3 seconds of launch. The extyra air in your thorax helps cope with the G-Force.

DBF isn't a huge rollercoaster fan, EE is really his limit. However, I managed to get him on RnR during our trip in 2009 by telling him it didn't go upside down and was a smooth but fast rollercoaster (yes, I know, I'm a meanie!). He came off and (luckily) said he loved it!!

Our family doesn't ever do DHS on our trips, but our kids have decided that they're ready to try it - because they're anxious to do ToT and RnRc (darn thrill ride junkies:rotfl:) Me? I hate rides that drop. Spin me, send me upside down, twist me through corkscrews, speed me at 60 mph, just DON'T. DROP. ME. I'm perfectly content to take the chicken exit every time on EE and Splash Mtn. I'll ride Space Mtn. as a compromise, but I really kind of hate it. I love BTMRR, so those little dips don't bother me, I just hate those rides with steep drops.

Sooo, my question is - and I haven't really found a good answer anywhere on the internet - does RnRc drop. I know it speeds, loops and twists, but does it drop? And if it does, would you compare it to EE and Splash or more like BTMRR? Thanks!

The only entence part of RnR is the start. After that, it's a VERY smooth RC that doesn't jerk you around at all. Yes it goes up side down a couple of times, but it's so smooth and fast, you really don't realize it, especially with the music playing. And there are no big drops. I think y'd love it. My 72 year old father loved it.

Good to know! I hate drops too. I can do Splash Mountain but only because I enjoy the ride and theming so I tolerate the drop only because I know that the rest of the ride is worth it. I like BTMRR and I can tolerate Space Mountain but I've never done EE, ToT, or RNRC. I may try RNRC in May. If my 8 year old wants to ride...

I like the RNR so much better than SPace mountain. I feel like I've Been in a car wreck every time I ride space mountain. Its jerky. Not my favorite.

That's exactly how I felt about Space Mountain. I didn't like it at all, so I skipped RNR at the advice of a guidebook that said to skip it if Space Mountain was too intense for me. I think I'll definitely ride RNR on my next visit because I've mostly read good things about it.

I love all the coasters, especially RnR. The take-off is my favorite part. It is a little jerky, but I keep my head forward a bit (after the take-off, when you need to keep it back), and that helped a little. Space Mountain I find very jerky, and because of my long legs, cannot ride in the front part of the car, or I get banged up on the middle bar. I need to sit in the center or back seat where I can stretch my legs out - this seems to puzzle the CM's to no end, I do not understand why.

I started with BTMRR, and worked up from there. Everest has its big drop not after the climb (just a little drop there), but while you are going every which way inside, so it doesn't bother me.

I hate the feeling of a big drop, but will put up with it because the rest of the ride is so much fun. When I was younger, the crazier the coaster the better, but got away from it for awhile. Now in my 50's, getting back into it again!

I love RnR. It's a smooth roller coaster to me, and my neck doesn't hurt afterward like on some of the other ones. I first went on it when I was seven. Loved it!

no big drops look at the height of the building it goes slightly into the ground, but with the dark u might feel or "anticipate" drops that aren't bad. Main pieceof advice is keep your head back at the start!!!!:scared1:

My mom doesn't favor drops either, but RnR is one of her favorites.

RnR has 2 loops & 1 corkscrew.

The only thing close to a drop "feeling" would be the tiny little hill (a little pull-feeling?) towards the end of the attraction. But it's really short! Nothing like a sudden drop. The whole coaster is nice and smooth.

Have fun :cutie:

All I can say, is all of you are very brave and I bow down to you...I have no memory except the most extreme fear I have every felt in my entire life when I rode this ride, and I really did think I was going to die...I really really did.
I had to get the photo to remind me to never ever tempt fate again ;)

Guess which one I am?
