Wouldn't you know it? The day I don't have my cam or video cam...

My three year old upon entering the Animal Kingdom on Saturday, Oct 4, was "tracked down" by this mechanical little tree in a moving stand--he actually TALKED to her and made replies to what she said :)

She was enamoured :)

We don't really know what to call this contraption except for ROBOT TREE -- really was a riot!

Does anybody have any digital pix of this so we can add it to our scrapbook? Or maybe some trivia about him?

This was a highlight for her trip; he saw her Simba/Nala shirt and said, "You must be the Lion Queen"--she didn't know whether to laugh or come run to mommy! She talks about him still to this day...

Later he followed me around and said, "I'm not following you; I'm stalking. There IS a difference" :)

His name is 'Wes Palm'! Get it?
He greets (harasses!) guests to the Animal Kingdom almost every morning.

3 1/2 yr old DS was tracked down by Wes Palm as well - he was wearing a Thomas Tank Engine shirt and had a great talk with the tree about trains n stuff

He loved it!

Check your email. I just sent you a foggy picture of Wes Palm. Mickey

We ran into Wes Palm, or as my DD calls him the Talking Tree, our last trip at AK. We also saw the Talking Trashcan on the same day. After that she was approaching every potted plant and trashcan to see if they would start talking!!

Ahhhh--so THAT'S Wes Palm!

I remember reading about him here at DIS some months ago but never put the two together!!! We hadn't seen him on our first day there (Oct 1), but man he really won over my little girl on that Saturday.

She'll definitely be looking for him next time around.

Wanted to tell everyone thanks for the pictures (to Mommy and Mickey) and to everyone else for the info :) My daughter's pretty big on Thomas, too! We still have yet to find the Talking Trashcan (Epcot, is it?)--wow, that would have REALLY messed with her if we had found that too on the same day!

We were "stalked" by Wes Palm, also. My girls both had on their guest of honor badges and my 5yo couldn't figure out how he knew her name, lol!! He also kept calling my 9yo "Georgia girl" because her name is Savannah. A great "magical" moment and I will definitely have the video camera next time!!

I think the same person who "controlls" the talking palm tree also does the talking trashcan - its usually found in the courtyard outside Conservation Station at AK in the afternoon's, whereas I've only ever seen the tree in the morning with the queue to get in the park.
