Robin Williams has passed away...

His widow has now revealed that he was in the early stages of Parkinson's disease. It does not justify it at ALL, but maybe it was his reasoning.

Just did a little research and found that there is evidence that cocaine abuse can be a link to Parkinson's. I'm not saying that his past cocaine addiction did cause him to develop the disease. There are other articles but I'm linking this one:

I am still so saddened by this news. He was my all time favourite actor and comedian. Everything he did, I enjoyed. If anyone hasn't read his biography that was released back around 1999/2000, then read it. Such an honest insight into his life. :-(

Just read that the Disney Channel will run the movie Aladdin at 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. EST on Aug. 16. On Aug. 17, it will play at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Disney XD, and at 6 p.m. on Disney Junior.

I watched Dead Poets Society for the first time in years last night. At the end I was sobbing like a baby and realized I was crying for him, not the movie. Celebrity deaths rarely impact me----but this one has. I cannot bear that he was in so much pain, I hope he is at peace now.

I was flipping around & saw it on last night. I watched a few minutes but couldn't do it. Especially since I've seen it and know what happens. I don't think I have ever been so sad about an actor's passing either.

That's exactly how I feel. By all accounts, he was a gentle, generous soul.

My first thought was it wouldn't have hit me so hard if he had a heart attack (for example). But I find him committing suicide to be infinitely sad.

He did so much for others without being in the spotlight. I just read a comment saying he was a comedic Mother Teresa. That seems like a very good description.

TMZ reported either last night or this morning that the cancellation of his TV series (The Crazy Ones) left him very depressed. He felt it was a huge failure and was having trouble coping with growing older and the limited roles he was being offered. Of course, this comes from "sources close to Williams."

I loved Jimmy Fallon's tribute to Robin. His immediate tears when trying to talk about the loss of this good man and then the laughter that followed when he showed Robin's first appearance on The Tonight Show. Then the "Oh captain my captain" was just perfect. It kind of wrapped up all of my feelings about losing this source of joy in the world.

Just watched Aladdin on Disney XD. They inserted a very nice "in memory at the end. It was the image of the genie made out of stars in the sky with the words "In Memory of Robin Williams, who made us laugh"

Early stage Parkinson's often causes severe depression. The depression is often apparent before the motor dysfunction that leads to diagnosis. It's likely that Parkinson contributed to his death but not in the way you imply, that he found out he had it and reacted badly. More likely, by the time he found out he had the diagnosis he was already suffering terribly, and like many people with severe depression wasn't able to see a way out.

Not sure if it's true or not, but I read he was very upset about his show, The Crazy Ones being canceled. I guess he felt making the move to tv was kind of a step down, and that the success or demise of the show was all on him. Who knows if it's true or not. So sad, especially since it was really an awesome show, very funny. I never missed an episode.

I watched clips from the Birdcage the other day and was both happy and sad. Loved him so much, I grew up with Mork and Mindy.

I watched The Birdcage this morning. It was so funny and I think because Robin Williams allowed the other actors to share the comedy. He didn't steal the scene, he enriched the humour in it. It was amazing to watch!
