We'll be visiting our daughter in Nashville over Easter staying in our camper. The plan is to leave Nashville early on Tuesday and take Wednesday and Thursday to drive home. Anyone have any recommendations on an interesting route or things to do/see?

We have driven this via interstate many times but have never done the back roads.

DH may want to stop at the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, TN for a few hours.

Anything University of 'Bama related is out, DH is a rabid LSU football fan and believes that Nick Saban, if not Satan himself, is definitely in close touch with the devil. He doesn't even like to buy gas in Tuscaloosa.

We'll be pulling a 27' fifth wheel so winding mountain roads are probably not the best idea.

We'll also have our Shih Tzu with us.

Thanks!

Can't you do the Natchez Trace from Nashville to Natchez ? No , not the most direct route, but boy that would be a pretty drive . Over night at the state park in Natchez at end and then head home back to BR. The Trace will be gorgeous at that time .

I cant say this enough

THE NATCHEZ TRACE

it is a Federal "park"-the land along it is a park-no billboards, no gas stations ( exits every 15-30 miles for that)

it goes from somewhere south of Nashville all the way to Natchez MS
we have done sections of it time and again
speed limit is low-like 45?
Interesting, peaceful, old places to see along the way...MANY amazing Indian Mounds

I would try to see some of the old Mansions in Natchez ( but not pulling the camper

I have a new friend that rides Harleys , CAN NOT WAIT to do the Trace with him on the bike !

Just South of Nashville, you'll want to eat at Stan's in Columbia, TN (off I65). Terrific breakfast, even better for lunch (get the pulled pork).

Thanks! We've been to Natchez many times and I've done the Spring Pilgrimmage with my mother. Never done the Trace in Alabama though-that sounds lovely.

The Natchez Trace only goes thru the very northwest corner of Alabama. It primarily crosses Mississippi. It is a beautiful drive but I don't think it is close to Lynchburg either.
