Any clues as to when Rivers of Light will debut? I know they've said by the end of Summer, but anyone got any ideas about an opening date/month?

Going to WDW in late-August/early-September, and hoping to see the new show? Any chance?

I'm going in September but I wouldn't hold my breath. It was supposed to be open when we were there in May. I'm just hoping they've got Frozen straight by the time we get there.

After the way things went this spring, I'd be surprised to even hear it's near completion until it's been running for at least a week.

At one point the rumor mill suggested that ROL would not launch this year (2016.) I've also read that one of the major obstacles in opening the show had been overcome so progress was being made. Is any of that true? Hard to say, but when it does launch there will be a torrent of promotion from WDW, and 37 threads on the Dis with questions about ROL. In other words, you won't have any difficulty finding out the dates. :)

Yes, I heard that rumor too a while back, but haven't heard it since. One of the issues was the projections, and that has indeed been fixed. Not sure about the other issues though. I'm sure Disney will promote the heck out of it when it does finally open! I'm hoping it may debut when i'm out there! That'd be cool!

The CM performers in the Jungle Book show have been told they will be there through October, at this point. Disney also recently held auditions for Actors' Equity dancers for the Jungle Book show, the contracts don't even begin until August and those are almost always a minimum of six months (there are exceptions, of course). Much of the "work" behind the scenes at AK has stopped... just, stopped. Many of the floats have been moved to a different location, presumably to be worked on.

I was going to say, half jokingly, that I was hoping it would be up and running by the time we go next early March, but from your comments, it sounds like there's a real possibility it won't be ready by then.

From what I've been told, the technology for the show, especially the barges/floats, simply doesn't work. They are still trying to figure it out, before they can continue building the rest of the show.

. . . . I've also read that one of the major obstacles in opening the show had been overcome so progress was being made. Is any of that true? . . . .
That part, at least, is true. As of a couple a weeks ago, there had been one major and three lesser technical hurdles to fix, and the major and one of the minor ones was resolved.
That doesn't speak to the possibility that the target date is being moved out and development slowed down, but there has indeed been progress made.

I just wish they'd go ahead and extend the hours beyond Sept. 5. I want an evening reservation for Tiffins beyond 4:20.

Park hours have been extended through October, I wonder why they haven't extended restaurant hours.

It would be nice if they could give the people who are within their 180 day window an idea one way or another. I guess maybe around august we should know for the rest of the year? (or at least if 6 month contracts were signed). This is great info though, thanks :)

Thanks for the info, very interesting.

Do you know what all the technical hurdles were? Apart from the GPS barge system...
