Rivers of Light Opening Date Announced; Dining Package Details Released

Any difference between FP+ seating location and ROL Dining Package seating?

Fastpass+ seating will be on the entire Expedition Everest side of the theater. Depending on when you show up, you can get a good center view or might have a far angle view.

Dining Package seating will be on the Nemo Theater side of the theater. The Dining Package takes up the two sections closest to the center, and the rest of that side of the theater will be stand by.

Nothing on the CD yet.
I just called the Shop Parks Guest Services, and the CM told me that they are not allowed to sell the Rivers of Light CD on the app yet. She told me that you are currently able to buy the album inside the park though. They just haven't received the "green light" to sell it on the app. She also said that they aren't allowed to sell any Rivers of Light merchandise on the app, but for other items, I have been able to buy them.

Any word on how the fastpass line is for the show? I'm sure it will depend on the night, but FP says to show up at 6:35 p.m. for a 7:15 p.m. show. I'm looking into seeing a 6 p.m. showing of Festival of the Lion King, so I'm curious to know how soon I should be there to get as close to the center as I can.

I read early reports of people lining up an hour before hand, and the line was massive. I would be interested to know if this has changed.

We saw Rivers of Light on the 18th. The amphitheater was open during the day (it made for a nice little spot to grab a snack and just relax). We just had FastPasses and we did not do the Tiffins Dining Package (pretty sure the dining package was almost double what we actually paid). I don't even remember how early we got to the theater (fiancee was deadset on getting good FastPass seats regardless of the wait).

When we took our seats, only about half of the far left side of the FastPass section was full. I was trying to pass the time, so I didn't quite look to see when the theater filled up. It did seem like a lot of the theater was waiting a very long time.

I wish I had better data for you, but with it being so new, I would probably try and see Lion King at another time. I think having a good seat for Rivers of Light is more important than Lion King, but totally you're choice of course!

So you were able to scan your fastpasses and sit well before the stated return time?? I wouldn't mind so much getting a snack and sitting to wait.

Hmm...good question, if we used our FastPass, we must have only gotten there an hour early. Sure seemed like we waited much longer than an hour, but I guess I'm not remembering correctly.

I tried to make ROL dining package reservations for our July 14 trip but they only go to June 30. Any idea when they will be released? Going with our two older grandchildren and wanted to avoid using a fastness since Pandora will be open and they will want to go on those rides. Any news if they will tier the rides at AK like they do at Epcot?

so to anyone who has recently gone to rol with the dining package, how early should we get to the theater for the 7:15 show?

I want to book a pkg for July 2nd and I check every day. This constant checking is getting tedious....

I'm interested in this question too, though when I'm going in a month and 3 days (4/6) it's an 8:45 PM show.

I just discovered touringplans.com and subscribed to the annual pass for $15. That allowed me to search for the restaurant I wanted (Tusker) during the times I wanted when I knew the package would be available. While it doesn't look specifically for the package, I theorized that if they have a table available during the window (no later than 6:15 at Tusker for an 8:45 show), they might have a package available then. Well, I got a text notification they found a table, and I swooped in and got one! I had been checking a couple times a day, but clearly having Touring Plans to check for you might be helpful.

My package shows that it's for RoL first show on April 6th, and they only show one show on that date (8:45). Is it normal for them to specify it's for the first show even if there's only one, or am I perhaps missing that there's a second show?

Thx but I can just as easily check MDE directly every day for the dining packages (for free). Unfortunately as of today, the dining packages for July still haven't been released yet. I am not interested in a generic dinner reservation at Tusker House....I specifically want the RoL package....I'm just getting impatient with the daily checking.

I didn't sign up for touring plans just for that, but I have to say that it found the availability at the restaurant not at a time I was checking on that day. I was then able to check the sister site for the RoL package and snagged it!

I am a novice, but I do have a suggestion to book a regular meal that falls in the time range you're interested in, and then when you know availability opens for the packages, cancel your regular meal and see if the package opens up at the same time. If it doesn't, you can just cancel it yourself.

In my case, Tusker was booked FULLY before the RoL package became available/was announced, and because I wanted to eat there for dinner anyway I had already booked 6:30. Well, for the 8:45 show, packages required seating by 6:15 and I was out of luck. This morning someone must have canceled a non-RoL table for 5:45 for 5 people. Touring Plans let me know about it (I had already checked today unsuccessfully) and I saw that I could either book without a package or with a package at the same time. I imagine that if I had booked a non-package Tusker House reservation at 6:15, I could've cancelled it once the package was available and then re-booked with the package.

We haven't booked a show dining package in a long time but I didn't think they were interchangeable reservations. I suppose I could try it lthough I'll still watch every day for the silly packages to open. I am not going to subscribe to TP tho... Thx for your thoughts.

Yeah, Touring Plans doesn't seem to be a great value, but I thought the free room tracker was and it was worth supporting them for the nice service they offered.

In my case they were interchangeable for sure, but your mileage may vary. I reasoned that it's the same table and that they were booked up ahead of the voucher limit (leaving vouchers sitting idle).

:thumbsup2

We have DVC so I don't need a room tracker for anything and we have been going about 3x a year so we kinda do our own thing at this point. The only thing I do like to refer to every once in awhile is a crowd calendar just for curiosity.

Enjoy your dinner & the show.

Reservation tracker only requires a free basic account on touringplans. No need to pay anything. Its a bit hard to find the page to sign up for a basic account - I did a quick google search to get to the right page.
