Rivers Of Light Amphitheater

It'll be one of the hardest tickets to get in all of WDW. From the photos I've seen it will hold way less than F! holds and you know how difficult that can be to get a seat at sometimes. It also looks like half the area will be dedicated to standing rather than seating because you can fit it a lot more people that way. Going to guess they will tie the seats into special packages.

I hope they're not on the verge of replicating their mistakes from World of Color in DCA.

Rivers of Light will be in AK and not MK.

If you look at left half of the amphitheater it will hold around 600 people (5 sections with 6 rows, with each section seating around 20) and it appears the right will hold around 800 if seated. I wasn't sure if the right half would be seated or standing, it's difficult to tell. If seating is the case then the per show seated capacity would be 1400. If they show it 3 times per night now you're talking of a total night time capacity of 4200, which is pretty small.

I just looked at the photos. I'm guessing some guests will be waiting as many years to see it as it took to build it.

But Disney will have a new feeding frenzy. I think they love those.

Exactly because they'll be able to sell the extra events, like a dessert party, for $99. They'll also tie a lot of the seating into dining packages.

I wasn't even thinking about the upsell aspect. I bet they could upsell every single seat. :duck:

If you can get everybody to spend an extra $100 on a seat that would be an extra 420K in revenue per night. From what I've seen I don't think Disney will have any problem getting an extra $100 per person for a seat to Rivers of Light.

Will you only be able to see it from the Amphitheater? I was under the impression that this was an all over event - as long as you see the water, you'll see the show. I mean there are bridges around which you could possibly use as well?

Nothing is official but I imagine it will be like WOC. We had a fine spot on a bench pretty far away from WOC in DCA. You couldn't see everything 100% but since we had already watched from our room the night before and had seen it before we were perfectly fine being on the side. They will tape out where ever you can't stand but I don't know if they will even have people policing the bridge to stop people form making a spot there.

I won't worry about size yet simply because we will book a dinner package if they are offered so we don't have to worry. I'm very glad that we have that ability.

Seeing it in person, the seating looks pathetically small. I guess math doesn't lie but it sure doesn't look like it would hold anything close to 1,400 people. Yes, there is standing room around the area but I'm not sure how the view will vary by direction. Even with all the standing area (which has a lot of trees in the way) I looked at the area and came away wondering how in the world enough people would be able to see the show. I was pretty stumped at how it would work. The whole setup just doesn't seem big enough to me. Hopefully Disney has a plan that just isn't obvious yet.

It will be interesting find out the actual capacity.

From a basic copy and paste in Google Maps, It seems like the F! Theater seating would fit inside the Rivers of Light seating area.

When you start calculating math with circles, you get interesting results. A 14" pizza is nearly twice as large (area) as a 10" pizza.
Mathmatically, the "small" additional arc of Rivers of Light seating might be more spacious than it appears.

I am pretty sure people will be able to see the show from many different spots and the seating is for FP and diner packages. Maybe this will draw a crowd, but on the few nights AK is open late, not many people stick around. You can walk around and feel like you are the only people in the park. So maybe the show will not be as crowded as people think.

It looked pretty similar in person, but its too early to tell. Looked a bit wider area but fewer rows.

However, they do at least have the walkway around similar to Illuminations (unlike Fantasmic).

I can guarantee a lot of us repeat visitors will stop the madness of getting a seat, and simply stroll around with a drink or snack and watch ROL from here and there, similar to Illuminations. Although this does appear to be lower to the water level so it may be worth a seat. But a lot of drawings show it reaching pretty high and there is the tree etc involved.

Also don't underestimate the "get out of here as soon as its over" crowd standing on the far path edges.

Heck we just saw Illuminations as we rounded the bend on TT-a lasting memory for sure. Did the same with 7DMT as Wishes was going off.

Sadly (or not really) EE will be down during so no 3 peat.

I wonder if this will not be seated to increase capacity, but standing only like Fantasmic is in DL. It looks like a nice area to watch and you will probably need a FP+. My guess is they will do three shows during busy times and Two during slower times. What we also don't know is whether this is a 25 minute show or a 10-12 minute show. If it's a shorter one, then it could be four times a night.

Good points. Seating can take an extra hour it seems. But a longer show might require it to be the most comfortable.

Seems like a lot of effort to not install benches though.
