you can put your purse in the thing in the middle right? does it keep it dry enough for your cell phone? also, can you put your shows in there as well so you don't have wet sneakers all day? otherwise I don't getting soaked

yes you can put a bag in there.

it MAY kepe your cell phone dry

you may not remove your shoes you must wear foot protoection on kaili

Part of the problem though is that the center compartment isn't very big, and other people on your raft may have the same idea. They now have free lockers by Kali River Rapids - I would do that instead.

I always have a Storm Sack waterproof bag at the parks with me. It has an easy belt clip for attaching to a belt or stroller, and usually we put all our cameras and phones in there and clip it to the handlebars in the center. Works great.

As for shoes, definitely bring flip flops. Animal Kingdom is always a "2 shoe" park for us, as it seems every time we are there we get soaked, whether at Kali or with the usual Florida thunderstorms.

Sometimes there are a few too many bags in there for the lids to be secure enough to keep water out. I always take a poncho and just put my bag under the poncho on my lap. There is also a bar you can put your feet on so they wont be sitting in a puddle of water. The Ziploc idea from a pp is a good one as well!

We just use the lockers.
A lot of times the center is already wet

We just did this the other day. I had gone bagless and we put our wallets and phones in zip-locs and left them in our pockets.

We were at the back when we went over the drop, so got the worst of the drenching (actually best - it was in the 90's) but our phones and wallets were fine.

No one our raft used the center atorage bin and it looked pretty wet.

My shoes were spared the worst of the water because I had my feet on the railing around the center.

By the way, this is a good strategy - just keep your feet off the ground by putting them up on the railing in the center, and you can avoid most of the drenching. It's when the water gets in the boat and sloshes around that they get soaked.

I'm pretty much a pro at dealing with Kali ... I seem to be a magnet for always going back first down the big drop ... and thus usually get the bulk of the spray.

And this is the great thing about the DIS - I had read the suggestion about putting feet up from a prior thread!

I left my bag in one of the free lockers the one and only time I rode Kali. I also left my shoes in there and switched to flip-flops for the ride.

If I was going to take my phone on the ride, I would put it in two layers of Ziploc bags, because I'm super paranoid.

I am a Kali River Rapids fan. In about 98% of the times I've ridden, I'm the one that gets drenched. So much that my husband will wear his bathing trunks and sandals when we go so he's prepared for the day.

Me? I don't care. I wear sneakers and normal clothes. I have a cell phone with me in a canvas bag or a backpack (both small ones). I've never put the phone into a zipper bag but do have a cover for it but it's not waterproof. Phone is fine, if my sneakers and feet get totally soaked, I use Disney paper towels if I really need them but other than that, I squoose.

I figure I'm on vacation, my sneakers will dry, my socks will dry, my feet will dry. And I had a great trip down the drop backwards.

I love water rides. I had my wallet in my front pocket of my cargo shorts. totally soaked...right down to the money. Shoes were ok they tried off in an hour or so. When I'm on vacation I do what takes me at that time. dont let getting wet stop you from having fun.

We always just save Kali for the end of the day and go back to the resort. Then we don't have to worry about extra shoes or extra clothes. Of course this also means in the past that we have missed out on riding, because the wait was too long when we wanted to leave and the FP time was past our time to be gone from the park. But hey with FP+, we'll be set. :cool1:
