Rise of the Resistance BOARDING GROUPS Superthread Part 2 *No Ride Spoilers Please* *PLEASE READ POSTS 1-3*

Fyi
Ride was down for an hour so line when we were called was very long and not moving. We did millenium and came back over an hour past our end time without a problem. They were not checking times just that you had an active boarding pass.

if i miss the morning distribution, and have to try in the park, i will only have one phone to use. am i correct in assuming using one phone with time.gov on the browser and then timing myself with switching to the disneyland app would also be a reasonable method?

not trying to ask a dumb question, just wanting to make sure there isn't something else i should try.
It’s probably better just to sit with the Disneyland app open and watch the phone time switch to 12 o’clock and then refresh. That’s what I did my stupid Apple Watch died two minutes before noon. I got group 114. I was sitting right in front of the train station near Townhall.

Not my best (group 8) and not my worst (group 60-something) but I got BG 43 today. After more than a year, can't wait to ride ROTR again! I actually clicked half a second too early (though was my "usual" time) and had to go back to the home screen, so was relieved not to miss out.

I've used a Galaxy 7 (!) each time, so for those worried about having older phones, have hope. I do swear by having the seconds hand running overlaid on top so I don't need a second device, however.

I got group 49 this morning. I usually get something in the 20s, so I’m not sure what went wrong. I feel like my timing was on. Oh well! At least I got one!

I used an iPhone 6s when I was there at the beginning of the month and I got 47. First time trying for a boarding group so I was happy.

Around 8:30 tonight I saw the boarding groups go to 204. Those 2 extra hours definitely help get more groups called.

BG 14 today. Really have been appreciating being able to try from outside the park. The cheers and solidarity were fun when doing it from inside last year, but not having to stress about being scanned into the park in time is a relief.

What time was your BG called yesterday and today?

Looks like we're starting with boarding group 8 today. Anyone see how long the distribution took?

Thank you for all the information in this thread. Very helpful and made it possible for us to ride. Wouldn’t have known to use atomic clock and sign up right away.

We went Sunday for the first time. BG 120. Did the 12 pm drop. Didn’t want to set an alarm for this trip so did not try the 7 am. When our time was called we were already in the area having just built droids so we went at the very beginning of our call time and the line moved quickly. Really very little waiting.

We got boarding group 31 on Saturday morning 5/15. Once we returned for our boarding time, it was a 15 minute wait. It was our first time on ROTR, what a cool ride!

Sunday with BG 14 we were called right at around 9:06. (I only remember so specifically because we were running late and so I kept focusing on our 10:06 or 10:07 deadline to return.)

On Saturday with BG 43 I don't recall exactly because we were in line for Peter Pan at that point and we didn't return right at the beginning of the boarding window. But it was still pretty early, sometime around 10:40, I believe. I do know even with showing up later, we were off the ride (we walked right through the line setup) by around 11:15.

What is the speculation behind the lowest boarding group number? Why does it start at 1 some days, 6 others, etc?

Boarding group 21, today.

Yesterday was my first time riding it. I didn't know what to expect walking in, but was slightly disappointed. That might be an unpopular reaction, and I don't want to say why in order to avoid spoilers. I will say that the way they break it up and how immersive it feels is very, very cool. Also, I have a feeling that once it opens up more the sense of urgency and immersion will be more pronounced. Right now the covid restriction talk slightly takes away from the immersiveness for me.

Having said that, all three of my kids LOVED it and put it at the top of their list. For me, Indiana Jones, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and Space Mountain still stand above this. I would probably put this at number 5, if I was forced to rank the rides here.

There has been some speculation on this previously. One theory is that on days when VIPs visit lower boarding groups are assigned to them. Once they finish riding (and exit via back-channels), general boarding commences.

Another theory is that it has to do with the anticipated opening time of the attraction. At distribution time, the state of the attraction is taken into account, and if they feel that the attraction will not be able to open "on time" they do not distribute the boarding groups that would be used typically at those times. This seems unlikely, since there does not appear to be a correlation between opening time and lowest group number called, but it is another theory.

And, of course, there is always the possibility that Disney is being intentionally mysterious and just messes with the numbers to tweak our collective melons.

I'm sure there are some other theories out there, but these are the ones I've seen.

Thanks. I'm going to guess your third option is the correct one. Disney is keeping us on our toes to keep us young.
