Ringing in 2010, 6 months til we'll be back again

I wish I could put something on my kids' desks, but unfortunately, some of these kids do not respect the property of others, to put it nicely. We have bag checks fairly often for various reasons. I wish I could do that, but this is not a 'normal' school.

I know exactly what you mean. We grouped our kids every year by ability. That meant that one year I would have a high performing class(which usually equated to well behaved kids), but the next time I would have a low performing group (which usually equated to me loosing my sanity half way through the year!). The years that I had the low group, I could not do my "normal" things. Such a shame. When I think back on those times, I feel for you Memom. I know how stressful that is to deal with on a daily basis. :sad2:

I feel the same way about the time I was robbed at gunpoint. Two gunpoints, that is.

You are about to really be a Mommy!!! :dance3:
Keep us posted!

What?! Robbed at 2 gunpoints?!? What did I miss?

Now that I've stopped working, I feel great! I don't feel like I'm about to have a baby at all. It's hard to believe my due date is less than a week away!

Hi, Swans... how are you feeling. I will be 39 weeks on Wednesday. I will be working up until I give birth, but wish I could relax a little. Maybe it is good for me, though, to keep my mind busy. I am so anxious and excited and nervous, etc, etc...:).

It's always so hard to choose from all the yummy things in the candy shop. I like the butterscotch noodles and anything with nuts, especially pecans or almonds.

If you make goodies, we'll be happy to see them. :thumbsup2

Never got around to making the goodies , it was in the mid 70's here all weekend and just beautiful so we spent most of our time outdoors ! Maybe this weekend I will get around to the goodies ?

Wow ! What ordeal Trent went through his senior year , he def must have an Angel:littleangel: looking out for him !

Great update :thumbsup2 I love shopping in Mouse Gears ! I think it has to do with the huge selection they have . lol The kids shirt with the monorail , Chip & Dale on it is adorable , would love to have that for DS3 !

I think you could use the little green men for something math related in your class room :)

Memom,

I remember reading about Trent's injury before, but it was just as scary the second time. I can't imagine how scared you all must have been.

Shocked, really. It was scary after we really knew how close to death he came. Two hours from death is fairly close. :upsidedow

It is stressful, but this year has certainly been better than several of the past ones, since I don't have the TCAP pressure. They tell us it's coming to 2nd soon, though. Boo for that.

It is a shame that you can't do simple crafts and activities with some of them, because they just go nuts. They are the very ones who need to do those kinds of things, but you could really only do them in very small groups.

When I was a young 20-something assistant manager at a McDonald's, we were robbed, and since I was the manager, they came for me. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but with one gun at my right temple and one behind my left ear, I was probably pretty close to possible death, too.

More WDW souvenir choices...the torture! :rotfl2:

Have you heard that they are supposedly getting rid of all resort specific items? I don't like that idea at all. I like getting things with the resort names on them!

Can't wait to see all these many new DIS babies on the way! :dance3:

We're supposed to see 70 later in the week. :cool1:

His senior year certainly ended in an unexpected way!

Your son needs to have that shirt. ::yes::

Since we were speaking of kids and their wacky conversations earlier in the week, I'll share one from this morning.

I was greeted by a little girl who announced, "Guess what! I'm Irish!" Since last week was St. Patrick's Day, I assumed her parents had told her of some Irish heritage, so I asked her how she found that out.

Her answer was, "Because every year around my birthday, my hair starts growing out red, and Irish people have red hair."

Oh.....okay. :goodvibes

And one from Brooklynn from Saturday after Jill got home.

She was getting her out of the car to go into the store and told her to slip her Crocs on. Brooklynn told her she could not put her shoes on, because...

"My feet are too hot because it's stinky out here!" :rotfl:

That is absolutely terrifying. Thank God no one was hurt. I can not even imagine...

I did really well last week being off work, keeping myself busy. Today is a different story though! The nerves are starting to kick in!

I love the conversations! :rotfl: We were talking in my class today about some of the things that kids say. I'm observing in my mom's classroom of older infants and young toddlers so I haven't heard much since they're not really talking. One little girl did keep on trying to say my name a couple of weeks ago, and it was so cute!

Robbed at 2 gunpoints? :scared1: Two people that I work with were robbed (by the same guy, mind you, just on different days), and they were threatened, but never shown any weapon. That was scary and it wasn't even me. Hope you had a good Monday back after break!

HA! Kids are hilarious! My DD used to say funny things like that all the time. Whenever I could remember to do it, I would write them down in her baby book. It is so funny to go back and read that stuff now. One day my dad (aka "Pa") was talking to her and he said, "Here, let me take off my glasses." to which she replied, "No Pa, then I won't be able to see you!" She was so serious! :lmao: You gotta love it! What joy those little angels bring to our lives. :littleangel: Just think, as Trent and Drew get older, that just means that they are getting closer and closer to giving you more of those precious grandbabies to have more silly conversations with!:thumbsup2

:lmao: In kindergarten this morning a little boy was yawning and I asked him if he was up late talking to his girlfriend on the telephone ;) He told me no that he was tired because he had a bowl of cereal last night and looked at me like I wasn't crazy for not knowing that that would make him tired

Great shopping pictures! I have a few friends doing the college program right now and one of them works at Mouse Gears! I am so jealous!

Oh my goodness Memom...glad you were ok!!! How scary!!!

Luckily, we only have a few scary stories. :goodvibes

It was a bit frightening. They never were caught.

Enjoy sleeping, get the house ready for the company you know you will have, read, Dis, do whatever your heart desires this week. Life changes for you in many ways next week. :)

Give the toddlers another year and they will be having all kinds of crazy conversations.

Oh, I definitely saw weapons with my guys.
Felt 'em, too.

:rotfl: Brookie makes me laugh. I'm so glad she got her postcard! :)

Thanks for being so thoughtful to send her a card. It worked out nicely that she was here to get it on the day it arrived. She also got a phone call from Tiana on Saturday morning, so she was happy to have a little Disney magic in her week.

So cute. I think it's fun when you are carrying a little one on your back pretending you can't find him/her anywhere. They just crack up laughing because you can't find them.

I hope my boys will give me at least a couple of grandkids each. :goodvibes Won't Disney trips be so much fun with a whole gang of people? :dance3:

Yep, that's the kind of stories you get. Kids are fun, and I wish schools would let them be kids longer. We push them too much to grow up too quickly.

What jobs do your other CP friends have?

I know; if you don't write them down right away, you forget. :upsidedow

Now that I've stopped working, I feel great! I don't feel like I'm about to have a baby at all. It's hard to believe my due date is less than a week away!

i took two days off before I was scheduled to go in to be induced...and boy did I feel very pregnant then! I was soo ready to be done at that time! I could barely move! LOL! Hope all goes well for you and can;t wait to see pictures!

I have a friend who works at the stroller rental in AK and another who works at Goofy's Barnstormer. I would love to do the CP, but as an education major I don't think it would really benefit me :sad2:

Oh sweet Brooklyn! I didn't know a stinky atmosphere could make your feet hot! :)
My 3 year-old neice comes up with some pretty good ones too! The last time they were here to visit, she was sitting on a child-sized chair at her nana's. She asked me to come over and sit on her lap! I told her "Sorry Mia, auntie Stacy's too big!" and she just tilted her head and looked at me and said, "Give it a try. You don't know until you try."
I didn't know how to explain that I would likely just crush her! :)

k_reile, are you ready for us to throw some Wilderness Lodge coins in for you this summer? :rolleyes1

See, this is a very informative report. :thumbsup2

I sometimes wish I were observing the older toddlers so I could listen to them! I'm going to my mom's class to observe, though, and her kids are soooo cute! Not very vocal yet but they're a lot of fun to watch.

I do have a funny story about a preschooler...I worked in the preschool that is part of my high school (the same center where my mom works, just a different class) as part of my early childhood education class during my senior year. I was talking to one of the little girls and she somehow spotted my piercing. She stopped and peered more closely at me and asked me to open my mouth. I said something like, "eat your sandwich." She stopped to consider that for a second, and then said, "we're going to play doctor. Open your mouth and say 'aaaah.'" :lmao: It was very clever!
