Riding shotgun in the Purple Van!

Doc, did you have to wear the purple shirt so you wouldn't clash with the van? Did you have to sign any purple van waivers if you knocked yourself out by pulling a 75lb tote down onto your head? And finally, Does John "let" you work on his website too?

Well, I do have a purple OL shirt to wear and John did have to help with a 75+lb tote so I didn't drop it on my head lifting it into it's assigned warehouse location! John does just fine on the OL without me!

Sounds like a fun time. Only a true-blue DVCer would enjoy spending vacation time delivering lockers!

We're just back from the OL wine evening. It was well attended - about 15 were there plus John.

It was nice to meet Cyndi and Eric, Cindy and Bob, Tammy and Mark (Happy Birthday, Mark) and everyone else whose names I did not retain.

Rain threatened early tonite, but it cleared off about 7 and was a beautiful evening.

Yes, Diane. I do have an OL cooler and he did not run out tonight!

It was great to meet you too Doc! What a wonderful night and no rain! We had fun. Hope everyone that uses OL can attend one of these events. It's a great way to meet people who share the passion of Disney and OL!!!

Not for us walkers--that sounds scarey to me. In April I had to use a wheelchair temporarily after an emergency room visit. I didn't realize how dangerous it was for people to cut in front of a wheelchair until I was sitting in one. If there were more vehicles out there rolling around there would definitely be more pedestrian/vehicle accidents in the parks.

There would have to separate Segway lanes.

We wouldn't take them in the parks, more for tooling around the resorts, etc.

The system allows great flexibility for last minute changes made by members. Today, John even got a call from a member returning from a cruise and made a detour to pick up their locker for return to storage. The service provided is most impressive.

That was ME!! It was great to get to meet you and John!!

John actually made arrangements with us way in advance. I started our trip at a WDW resort but was ending our trip on the Magic. We had a late flight out and was planning to spend some time at DTD before our flight home.

John sent us an email well before I left home to tell us to call him when we were about 1/2 hour from DTD and we could meet at the Hess station across from DTD. When I called him from the Mickey D's at the Cross Roads Shopping Center (had to pick up coffee), he instead told me to stay put and he would swing out to meet me! The kids were excited to see the purple van pull into the lot. (They stayed inside eating bkfast.)

I agree that OL's has the BEST customer service. I will keep telling the story until I'm blue in the face of how my flight home got canceled in February 2008 and I had to return to WDW with 2 little kids for another 2 nights until I could catch the next non-stop with confirmed seating and how OL's came to the rescue!

I called John and Brian that evening when I checked into to BWV to see if they could redeliver the box the next morning when making their regular deliveries. When they heard what had happened, they INSISTED on turning around and making a special delivery that evening just to get that box back to me! My OL was in my room within the next 20 minutes, I think!! It was a lifesaver because our toothbrushes and laundry detergent were in there. We had NO clean clothes or underwear. I had to do a load of laundry that night!


My Mom was with me for the first part of this last trip and couldn't believe I kept a big BOX at WDW!!!
