Are you kidding me wizenheimer? Do you even have a job to make your own money and spend your own "thousands?" Tons of fools like myself are paying for this too. Not right young lady....you sound like an apologist....

Just telling you like it is....

What is an apologist? I see several mentions of it on this thread...

Yeah, and I've seen this term only on this thread ever. Kind of confused there too. But Google is my friend.

Lol. First thread I've seen it on as well, and obviously too lazy to Google it. Thanks! It seems most DISers are apologists!

What:confused3

Yes I do have a job. Telling it how it is while being very rude and very unnecessary.

I'm sorry but for you to come and complain about July 4th being busy at WDW is ridiculous. Of course it's busy!

Apologist is used often when talking about Disney, especially on this board.

Who would have thought Disney could be so controversial? ;)

And to DisneyDorx... They actually did go down to a phase 3 closing on 4th of July. So that was probably about as crowded as it gets. Phase 3 is admission only to Resort guests, Passholders, Bippidi Boppidi, and restaurant reservations holders. And that was around 4:30 in the afternoon(ish). Phase 4 is closed to everyone.

Did you do any research for this trip :confused3 ;)

Seriously though, you sound so surprised. How did you not know the fourth was going to be so crowded when you paid your thousands for the trip?

Uh. If no one ever complained about July 4th crowds on the Disney boards like the OP did how would you be able to research it?

We are down here now and the crowds the past two days at MK are absolutely ridiculous. 10? Now way. I can't believe I paid thousands for this. I saw people camping out 3 hours in advance of the 4th fireworks. These guys are nuts!

You can't even walk! I did notice that the exit crowds for the parking lots were like I've never seen before. It must have taken them hours to get back to their vehicles. Kudos to the CM's who have to deal with all of us...

Your signature states that you have been to WDW " a plethora of times". Obviously none of those times were during the busiest times of the year. Now you know what a "10" is. The reality can be much different than what you see on the interweb or in books.

BTW- if you think that the current crowds are bad, I would definitely advise you to steer clear of a Christmas/New Year vacation in WDW. That is definitely an "11". (complete with exploding drummer-how's that for a Spinal Tap reference?) Stage 3 closures are almost every day and Stage 2 is not unheard of.

You could read just about any guide book or website for touring information. Almost any site will have recommendations of best times/worst times of the year to visit. Quite a few publish crowd level predictions. Any of these sources would have given the OP the heads up he needed to know in advance that the summer's major national holiday would result in big crowds (if common sense hadn't already hinted at it).

However I don't think the OP was ignorant of the facts. I think that the reality overshadowed his expectations and he just needs to vent. And that's OK too. That's one of the purposes of a discussion board.

As someone who just returned home last night from a wonderful 11-day WDW trip we had an awesome time! We arrived on June 24th and really spent that first week hitting the parks hard (rope drop, breaks and go back in the evening) and we had no problems! Crowds were very manageable, smaller than I thought and we never waited longer than 20 minutes for an attraction. Now the second week of our trip (July 1) we saw substantial crowd increases but by that time we were going to the water parks or entering the parks for a specific show, etc.

However I do have to say that it gets annoying reading, "what fools! Who would go this time of year?!? Ha!". Ummm you do realize that some people can only vacation in the summer right? Some of us are educators, some don't want to take their kids out of school like others, some only get a certain week or two for vacations. So no none likes crowds but we all obviously like WDW and want to enjoy it with our families during the time we can. I WISH I could go during less busy times but being that I am a school administrator I cannot.

:thumbsup2 I remember reading WDWMagic every day around Christmas and they started closing around noon! Almost every day. Crazy.

Several years ago we were there before Christmas. We arrived on the 12th and stayed for 10 days, leaving on the Sunday before Christmas, with Christmas falling in Wednesday. Holy Crowded!, starting on Friday night with Saturday night a madhouse. I knew there would be crowds. My family had done just about everything we wanted to do before that, with the exception of Osbourne Lights. That was a close encounter that I had never experienced before, and then we headed to MK, and that made the lights look like an abandoned street.

A Cm in a gift shop told me that was just the beginning of what Christmas week would be like. I understand crowds and busy. but I would never have thought busy could be like that, no picture can capture that totally.

I agree we need give the OP slack about the crowd expectations. My DH keeps saying eh wants to only go when my DGD is out of school, and after that little taste of crowded, I think I would rather swallow glass.

I totally understand OP talking about the crowds Most of us have "seen" Times Square NYC on NYE on tv or internet BUT until you have actually been there you are really clueless as to how crazy & overwhelming it can be

and on a side note can we PLEASE stop using the term Apologist, its demeaning and quite frankly ridiculous

It's funny -- I didn't read the OP as particularly negative or complaining. More of an OMG / "there are so many PEOPLE!" incredulous thing. I mean ... has it escaped people that he ended his post by giving a little verbal fistbump to the CMs?

:earsboy:

Years ago I made a trip in August, and Fantasyland was literally wall-to-wall people, most looking like they were on the Bataan Death March. I've never seen anything like it, and can only imagine what the Fourth of July is like. :crowded:

I'm very lucky in that I can choose when to go to WDW. I wouldn't rule out a trip during peak times again if the opportunity presented itself, but it'd have to be a *really* good deal.

That's how I read it, too. But we all know how the DIS can be. :rolleyes1

OP, I, too, had thought I had been at Disney during crowded times. This past March we went for our first spring break (the week BEFORE the week of Easter). I was feeling quite confident in my touring plan and my Disney prowess. We did everything we wanted and the crowds were little more than slightly annoying at times. Fast Forward to our departure day. DD and I decided to hit MK for one last goodbye. It was a "worst park" day, and it was now fully Easter week. We didn't care what we did/saw that day, and it was a good thing, because it was b@lls to the wall out of control with people! We were laughing our heads off and feeling so sorry for anyone unawares who had made a fateful first trip that week - I can't imagine they'd ever be back! We had a blast, but woah, that was some people!!!

Its my opinion and FWIW if you read the whole thread I am not the first to mention this term shouldn't be thrown around ...okay ?
