I have a question on which rides, mostly Magic Kingdom but any park is fine, is a different experience when rode at night and is worth the extra ride for the nighttime experience. We are having a special trip in December for my son being a senior in high school this year and we have not tried very many rides at night. I think Dumbo was it.
Thanks for all your input.

My favorite ride at night at MK is the Rock Thunder Mountain Railroad -- I could ride it all day long and once it's dark, it's like I forget the turns and drops!

I'm also told the Tower of Terror is cool at night -- but my chicken mode kicks in even before I get to the line!!

Have a great time!

Yeah, I have not ridden the Tower of Terror at all and have no desire to. I do not like free fall's at all. I rode a simple free fall ride at 6 flags in high school and have never been on a falling only type ride since. I thought I was going to come out of my skin. I was so terrified I did not enjoy any part of the ride. I love roller coasters and other rides. I just don't do free falls.

The absolute best rides to do at night are Big Thunder Mountain, Expedition Everest, Tower of Terror (LOVE that free fall feeling!!!) and the Jungle Cruise. After dark you can't see quite how bad the props are and the cheesey guides get even sillier and cheesier which is hilarious! LOVE it at night! Dumbo and Splash are also good if you can time it to be riding them during Wishes. Those are the best, but in addition Test Track is kinda neat when you pop out in the dark on the end.

Astro Orbiter at MK is amazing at night! You're so high-up and the entire park glitters and glows with all the lights. There's always a line, but if you go during evening EMH or near park closing time, it's not too bad.

To be honest, all the rides are great at night. We went to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas last year and they had certain rides open at night with cool colored lights and it really felt like we were in a whole new park.

the best is BTMRR - especially when there's fireworks - imagine making a turn & coming up & seeing fireworks -

next is jungle cruise - it's so different-

also spash mountain - astro orbiters - different feel at night -

but all of the rides feel different at night - even IASW is more festive

and at epcot the shows are great at night

I agree that Big Thunder Mountain is fabulous at night!

Last time we were at WDW we went to Narcoossee's for our anniversary dinner and my DD kept saying how she wanted to ride BTMRR "one more time" before going to bed. We rode 9 straight times after dinner. It was the best ride at night!! Totally fun!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for sure. In fact, if you could only do each ride once, with time after dark for one, that is the one I would suggest.

Jungle Cruise also. I won't spoil it, but the one time our skipper cracked at least one joke that absolutely depended on it being after dark.

We were lucky enough to ride astro orbitor just as the fireworks were beginning. It was an awesome view of wishes :)

jungle cruise

oddly enough haunted mansion seems even darker inside at night

astro orbitor esp if you time it to be there during fireworks

At MK: BTMRR, Splash, Magic Carpets, Dumbo, TTA, Jungle Cruise

At AK: EE

At DHS: ToT

Dan, I love your sig. quote. Did you know next week (Nov 8-) is World Kindness Week? Nov 13 is World Kindness Day. I just learned of it today.

Magic Kingdom:

One I enjoy is the TTA or whatever it's called now.

Then I have 2 which are indoors, but I just like riding at night time, maybe because of what they are and going into when it's dark out just seems right.

Buzz and Pirates.

At DHS it's along the same lines with Star Tours.

For Epcot, I enjoy Maelstrom and Test Track.

Has nobody mentioned the Haunted Mansion? We think it is better at night. Just because the whole setup is more "haunted" from the time you start walking towards it in the dark, into the dark ride, exit back into the dark... no daylight "happiness" to break the mood.
