Ride breakdowns while you were on it?

Oh, Haunted Mansion and TTA stopped too, but for less than 5 minutes. At TTA they held people at the escalator, so it looked like there was actually a line to get on it.:rotfl:
A little off-topic: 2 rounds of TTA and Carousel of Progress made a good 40 minute nap for DD (3). ;)

Dh, my girls, and I got stuck on the first hill at Goofy's Barnstormer last Sept. We waited for 45 min before they brought a ladder to unload us. We lost almost all of our extra magic hours that night.

On the same trip, Laugh House broke down twice - once while we were in it and once while we were in line. We also just managed to get off Splash Mtn when the ride stopped dead in its tracks (there were problems while we were on but it didn't stop). For the next 45 min, every time we walked by the same poor people were on the top of the big drop looking down at us. Can I tell you how grateful I was it wasn't me? I HATE drops and only ride it to humor the rest of the family.

We were on Carousel of Progress once when it broke down and we sat through the same song and scene 10 or 12 times. The same trip, we managed to get caught in Pirates for almost 30 minutes.

This is what I experienced last month when it came to attractions that were not working.

Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin: While I was on it the ride just stopped and everyone's score got erased. We sat there for like 5 minutes and the ride eventually got re-statred with our scores back to nothing.

Test Track: While I was waiting inside the loading area it must have been down for a few minutes because no cars were moving and there were still guests sitting in them waiting to get out. Now I eventaully did get on however part of it was still down, because I never heard them saying what tests were happening next.

Finally while I was on the Tomorrowland Transat Authority when we went inside Space Mountain it was obviously down because all the lights were on so we saw the track and I saw some cars that were stuck at the top, so I am not sure how long those were stuck up there and when they got them out.

Our only major breakdown was on Horizons on our first ever Disney trip, in the Omnimax dome area where the film did a flying swoop down on a city. I don't get motion sickness, but after 20 minutes I was quite happy to get out of that area.

Never got to ride it again, though...it closed by our next trip.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It stopped TWICE. Each for about 3 or so minutes. It was because of a few physically disabled people trying to unload, and then load.

(and while I understand the need to do that,- on a roller coaster ride, disney should have a different system in place. after waiting forever to ride, to stop twice, was really disappointing. and there was no issue of a pass to ride again. there must be a way to allow the next train to continue but stop before going into the terminal area...or something!

Got stuck twice.

First on Splash Mountain. Boats stopped, voice came over asking everyone to stay in the boat. CM came around and we walk out of the ride. Kind of neat seeing thing behind the ride.

Second was Dinosaur ride in Animal Kingdom. Ride broke down all the lights came on. We had to get out of cars and walk out. My father started to take pictures but was stopped by CM. Could not believe how differnet ride looked with lights on. It is amazing what darkness hides.

Mom,
I have somthing to add. You could see all the strings that held the terradactol up and there was a big cement wall with nets hanging down that help up the fake leaves and stuff. It was really cool!

I've broken down on Test Track more times than I can count and in just about every location. Thankfully, I've never been stuck in the acid room, though.

I've been stuck on HM for a short time, Spaceship Earth quite a few times, and on Buzz Lightyear in Disneyland.

However, the creepiest time was when I got stuck in Dinosaur. I love the ride, but there's something about sitting in the pitch dark listening to animal noises that scared me just a bit. Not even being stuck on Haunted Mansion was that creepy.

Idon't know if it was a breakdown, or what but during our Nov 2008 trip, DD and I spent a really long time in the Winnie-the-Pooh ride. We would move a few feet, and then we got an announcement overhead saying there was a problem and the lights would come on. Then the lights would go off, we'd move a little and it would happen again. Repeat about 4 more times. I got a little tired of the heffalumps and woozles song that day...

We had a weird experiece at Country Bears this past year. It was the first day it reopened after the audio re-vamp and it was pretty late in the evening. There were very few of us in the theatre and the soundtrack got out of sync with the bears. One curtain opened and there sat a "frozen " bear while one not in sight sang. Very creepy. The cm got on the mic after cutting the sound and said, "uh, I'm not sure what to do, I guess you ought to leave." The frozen bear still sat there staring at us from behind him!

Test Track! We were on the ramp with the sharp turns. We sat in the car for about 20 minutes. Then they came and got us out of the cars and took us down the track, out a back door, and out into the shop at the end. My boys thought it was really cool to get to see the "secrets" but they were disappointed to not get to ride.

They gave us a non-expiring fastpass but unfortunatly for us it was out last day. Luckily we are headed back this March for another ride :cheer2:

In Sept 2006, My DH and DS(17) and DS(9) were on the RNR for about the 10th time that day and they had just taken off and made the first loop when it stopped. They waited several minutes then all the lights came on and they were escorted out of the building with fastpasses. My DH said that you would not believe how close the track is to itself in some places. He said that doesn't ride with his hands raised anymore for fear of hitting the tracks above him. Of course it is a safe distance, but he is not taking any chances!!!

In Sept 2008 we got stuck on the Toy Story Mania ride as DHS. We ended up having to walk out of there. It felt like forever that we were stuck in the seats. (Which was not fun at all with a squirmy 21 month old) :)

Okay...here are mine.

We seem to have a knack for getting stuck in the 1940's on the Carousel of Progress...every time it moves on cue, my DM and I are surprised :)

Got stuck on the HM last November...right when you enter the graveyard scene at the top of the hill. After 10 minutes, they gave up...turned the lights on, and walked us off the ride.
We each got a fastpass as compensation for our rather unusual tour of the mansion.

Another time I was in the HM, the soundtrack to "It's a Small World" started playing in there :lmao:

Got stuck on Buzz this summer...stopped long enough that they put up the side railings and I think had intentions of walking us off, but then they got it going again.

And got stuck one day on It's a Small World for 30 minutes. My husband hates that song :rotfl2:
Got triple fastpasses this day

Been stuck on Splash Mtn too many times to count - walked off by cm's twice.

Pooh - multiple times stopped then restarted with no bouncing or waves.

Been held up on several ride for malfunctions, but rides were restarted.

DH stuck on Space Mtn - lights came on and was walked out.

Soarin over California (DCA) Oct 2001 - on the top row, unable to retract the ride down after it was over. Lights were turned on and we sat for about 45 minutes before they were able to get us down.

There is no bypass for loading and won't be unless they redo the attraction (it's a major renovation to change the track to make a bypass). They do have a bypass for some newer attractions, such as Toy Story Mania and Kali River Rapids. When they renovated Space Mountain in California, they added a bypass line.
The CMs normally group people with disabilities so that the attraction is not stopped more than once per ride. Since yours was stopped 2 twice, chances are good that someone who was not know to the CMs to have any special needs had a problem getting off.

This past Dec. we were on Everest and stopped on the major incline. I did not enjoy that. I was sitting next to DD7 and DH was behind me. I turned around and told him to get me off NOW!!! I don't care for heights. Then a couple min. later we were moving and stopped again right before we go backwards. I know we are suppose to stop, but it was a very loong stop. That was the last time we rode it that day.

Space Mountain we were the last car to go. 1/2 way through the lights went on and I knew that it was going to shut down.

We were stuck on SM during a MVMCP once. We were the only 4 riding it, and they didn't seem to realize we were there. We were calling out "hello?" for like 40 minutes. We were close to the end and finally a CM walked through and did a double take when he saw us. He got it moving again and let us off, saying something about a weight sensor not being tripped because there was no one else on the ride. It was strange.

Another time, we didn't get stuck, but rode RRC and realized as we finished what was so weird about the ride: there was no music. Completely silent. As I got off, I smiled at the CM and commented "that was the quietest ride I've ever been on here!" She immediately ushered us through the VIP door and put us in the front of the next coaster, and the sound worked that time.
