Let's hear your stories. :surfweb:

Here's mine: We were on the Tower of Terror. Me, my husband, 12-year old daughter and 9-year old niece. We'd ridden it before, and all of us loved it! So, we go up, and it moves forward, and gets to the top of what we know is the BIG DROP....and...and...and nothing. :confused3

We start thinking, "isn't it about time we go???":confused3 Then all the lights came on, and a voice came on over a speaker and told us it would be a few minutes. So we all started laughing, and joking about how the elevator really is broken, etc. There were a few people who were really scared, however, because it was their first time and the idea that the ride had broken just freaked them out.:scared: :scared1:

After what seemed like HOURS, we finally dropped!! :cheer2: At the end, a guide offered us all another trip with no wait if we wanted!:cheer2: :cheer2: Almost all of us went on it again...except for the TOT virgins, who probably vowed to never EVER go on it again. :rotfl2:

I have had this experience with Journey Into Imagination with Figment. I have been in line while others went down and we had to leave the line, but this is the one I was actually on. It was not the worst thing ever, but it was quite annoying to hear that "ride broken track" over and over again for 15 minutes.

On our last trip (Sept.) Ellen's "Energy" ride broke down right near the end. Instead of all the cars lining back up, they had to turn the lights on and open the little doors so we could hop out. It was a big step down but not too bad. Some older guests needed a helping hand.

The worst part was the long wait for someone to come out and acknowledge that it was down. I was ready to hop out 15 mins earlier but of course, didn't.

Then there's the usual back up of boats in POC. Sometimes you're stuck there a good long time hearing the same music repeat again and again. I don't know that you could really call that "down" though.;)

We got stuck/backed up right before the drop on splash mt. It was strange because this was one of many trips to WDW and our 1st time getting stuck on any ride. This was beginning of July last year.

Got stuck on Test Track last week for about 5 minutes. It stopped right before the doors open and you head outside to the speedway. It was my 1st time so I thought it was part of the ride at 1st.....

Pirates - stuck for 25 minutes where they canon ball you

Winnie the Pooh - going into the Heffelumps and Woozles and the magnetic door to the tree didn't work and is smashed into our honey pot after our honey pot had pushed it open. NOT FUN! We told the CM - he ignored us, I told him it really was broken and then the next group got off with a child crying because the metal tree door smashed their pot too! Finally they listened. Grrrrr!

Space - had the lights go on :scared1:

Haunted Mansion - about 10 minutes in the graveyard next to the skinny dog

We may have been in the same elevator. Same exact thing happend to us. We never really dropped though. After about 15 or 20 minutes, a tech climbed up the ladder to our car and accessed the manual controls which slowly lowered us down. They also let us get right back on if we wanted.

The freaky part was having the doors open and waiting for that big drop which never comes. For about 20 minutes we didn't know when we were going to drop or IF we were going to drop. :scared:

Once I got stuck on POT for about 45 min at the part where the skeleton is lying on the beach with the seagull. POT is one of my favorite rides, but that seagull can really start to get annoying! After they finally got us off, they were handing out FP for any ride you wanted.

We went to WDW the summer they rolled out the new POC, and were lucky to get in on the soft opening (we had been bummed that we were going to miss it, but a cast member said no, she thought they were open -- and they were!). We walked right on, but the ride took twice as long as it should have -- kept stopping for several minutes at a time.

Then Haunted Mansion kept stopping -- CMs would come on the speaker and tell us it would be just a minute, but it was MUCH longer than that. They finally closed it for the day shortly after we got off.

And the one we didn't mind breaking down -- Buzz Lightyear stopped several times, but the laser guns and the car turners kept working, so we had the highest scores we've ever had.

When a ride stops for a brief time (even though it might seem like a long time when you are on it) the most likely answer is not a breakdown.

More likely is that it had to be stopped to help somebody get on/off due to a physical handicap or such. Sometimes, a guest may try to get out of the ride vehicle during the ride and the safety systems stop the ride.

My list is long:
Space Mountain - waiting in line and all the lights were turned on. That's when I realzied that SM was a tiny little roller coaster. LOL.
Space Mountain - on the ride, again, all the lights were turned on. We had just started the ride so we weren't even into the fast part (might have just loaded)
(those were in the 80's)

Maelstrom - actually had to WALK out of that one. Water quickly drains and there are stairs..who knew?

Haunted Mansion - stopped, lights turned on twice

Small World - stopped for 10 min or so, no explanation.

Spaceship earth - lights turned on. Got VERY hot inside while we waited. Kept thinking "no way am I going to be able to walk down this ride if they make us"

I'm sure there's more. Seems like I always get the broken rides.

Every year my husband heads onto Splash mountain. Every year something on it goes wrong. One year he was in the boat (or whatever it is) for about 45 minutes. And he wonders why I won't go on it with him.

We were on test track last month and our car had a computer malfunction and it immediately stopped. We were on the outside track at the fastest part just before you start to slow down. The car immediately stopped and you could smell rubber burning. We had some TT virgins in the car and they thought the ride was suppose to do that and they were surprised how real it was. A mechanic had to come out and work under the hood of our car and restart the computer system. We finally got restarted but it was totally awesome. We asked for another ride and they let us go up over the tracks where you load and we all got to ride it again. Boy, I love that ride.

We got stuck on Pooh for probably 20 minutes and had to walk out. I wish they'd come and gotten us instead of trying to get the thing started for ten minutes like they did.

I once got stuck on Splash for about fifteen minutes. I later read, the very next day a guy was killed when the ride stopped and he didn't head the warnings. He climbed out of his log and fell between two logs when the ride started up suddenly.

Interesting...I had forgotten about this just before now when I posted on another thread that there is always risk when going on rides at WDW.....

Anyhow, on another trip, my sister was evacuated from Splash after about 45minutes. The rest of us were stuck waiting around for her (before she had a cell phone.)

I've also been momentarily stuck on a number of rides, but not evacuated. Test Track comes to mind, but it was only a few minutes. Luckily, we were just past the cold room! It was long enough that they let us ride again.

Another trip we missed a major jam on Space Mtn by just a few minutes.

That has to be scary . . just waiting and not knowing when you will drop but that it has to happen! :scared:

On Peoplemover (or whatever it is called now) we were stuck for 1/2 hour in the August heat and both my kids whining and sweating; at least we got special passes to make up for that experience.

On Buzz Lightyear right where the lights strobe/flash over and over and over again before you go in the tunnel and Zurg is flying around. The ten minutes felt like forever and I had a seriously bad headache from that experience.

In the HM years ago when going down backwards (I think this happened to me on Spaceship Earth once too); kind of an uncomfortable position to be in.

Worst of all was Its a Small World and hearing the song over and over and over again. I wanted to drown myself in the shallow water just to make it stop!

My DD19 and I went to WDW Sept 2007 and were so excited to get to ride Expedition Everest.

We had just got on the ride and were on our way UP the side of the mountain - where you start to go into the tunnel/cave..........when it stopped!:scared1:

We sat up there for what felt like forever, but was actually like 5-6 minutes but they weren't able to get the ride going again -so we had to walk down!!!:faint:

Also during the same trip, the Haunted Mansion broke down - lights came on and we had to walk off of it.

Last summer we got stuck on Splash Mountain while it was raining (guess it didn't matter we were wet anyway).

When DH and I were on our honeymoon, many years ago, we got stuck on POTC right near the exit. DH didn't care if he ever heard Yo Ho Yo Ho a pirates life for me ever again.

In 2007 we were on Test Track and came out of where you do the crash test and you could tell the car wanted to excelerate but it didn't and it completey stopped on one of the banks. We all sat there wondering what was going to happen next. Finally the car slowly moved to the start of the ride. They asked if we wanted to go again and everyone did. We had ridden the ride many times but the people behind us were first timers.

We got stuck on ToT as well, although it was in the "Up" tunnel. It was right when you stop the first time, and then everything disolves into little stars. Well, as the stars went out, and you are supposed to move up again, we didn't! We sat in the pitch black for at least 10 minutes. Luckily we knew that it was broken, but other people were on it for the first time and started to kind of freak out. Shoot--so was I, but that was more because we were strapped down and in total darkness. Not fun. They let us stay on and reride though, and it was perfect.

Not at Disney, but at Islands of Adventure. We tried to ride the Spiderman ride literally 5 times throughout the day and we didn't make it through once with out it messing up until the last try! Each time, the video (it's a 3-d ride) would just turn off, the lights would come on and you'd stay in the car until the get off point. It was so wierd.
