Ride-a-thon 3/1 PRIZE IS BAR STOOL POLE! MERGED

ok i have been rideing the rides all day long and i have 23 or 24 poles.

ok well i did leave for 2 hours today

how many did yo get?

Well I'm not sure if anyone already said this, but I took that "waiting time" line to just be like the real potc ride, not that we actually only have a 5 minute wait.

I took it to mean five minutes from when you got to that room... I thought it was clever...

There are a few over night changes I really hope they make:

  • Those starts - move them to the door so people who suffer from major lag are not blocking them...
  • Change the room title to P.O.T.C then the instance - North, South - etc.
  • The prize - rugs - please please please!

I had a lot of fun today - I am really sick - so I wasn't up to much more that clicking my person on a ride etc... Well Done VMK!

Never did this before, so it was all new to me!

I found that the right hand side tended to DC about 50% of the time. The left side practically none.

Twice I saw guests sitting in the scenery -- I guess they just clicked out of their vehicles. Also saw two guests standing on the dock waving. :confused3

I just wanted to add a huge "Thank You" to Bella! :goodvibes I know there were a few glitches, but those rooms were fantabulous! She did such a wonderful job recreating a wonderful attraction - Woot to Bella! I love those posts - so much they can be used for! Now to get ready for tomorrow...:cool1:

Excellent suggestions!

As someone who feeds the lag monster with enough giblets to stuff a zoo, I'd throw in a few more recommendations:

  • Limit the room size to 10 - 15 people to curtail comments about "dumbo people" who can't "move." I couldn't budge for a record seven minutes when chat bubbles erupted; I moved much faster during an earlier two-lane traffic jam with little yakking. Half an hour before the event ended, I lucked upon a room with only three people and clicked my way onto the Pan ride in less than 20 seconds.

  • Either widen the maze-like paths to fit three people (cutting down on accidental head-clicks and annoying profile popups) or pack the lobby's entrance with starts. In previous ride events, I pulled in four times more prizes despite my horrendous lag. Eliminating the need to click entirely by placing multiple starts on the opening steps would speed the queue up and provide relief to those prone to crashing. Here's what typically happens:

Wait 30 seconds for players to stop swirling.
    Click start piece.
    Click start piece.
    Click start piece.
    Click start piece.
    Click start piece.
    Click start piece.
    Click start piece.
    Click start piece.
    Player profile pops up.
    Click X.
    Click X.
    Click X.
    Click X.
    Click X.
Click the ride tracks near the exit at least fives times.
Click the ride tracks on both sides of the room, timing my hits to avoid players' heads.
Click the left edge of the start piece ten times.
Click the right edge of the start piece ten times.
Repeat on the other side of the room.
Move halfway past walls, then stop for 1 - 4 players blocking the path.
    Clickity click, clickity click . . .
Profile popup, with a pin closeup bonus. Click each X ten times.
    A wit says, "Move."
    Click start piece.
    Click start piece.
    Click start piece.
    Click start piece.
    Click start piece.
    Click start piece.
Another wit says, "Click the start piece."
Can't move a step - someone's blocking the path again.
More profile popups and / or chat bubbles to slow down laggers.
Can't click the globe to escape the room either; lag makes me hit the button too many times, landing me back in the same clickity clackity.
The other rooms worked beautifully, with traffic flowing as elegantly as the scenery. :)

overall I cant say I saw much of a problem. Only a couple times were both sides being blocked by some "special" players :) A quick threat of a report fixed that pretty quickly.

yes, it would be improved if the queue was widened, but I think people were exaggerating the problem a little bit. I rode pretty much all day because I wanted as many poles as i could get (great building blocks :) ) I never once was unable to get onto the ride within a minute. Oh and people you dont click on the start piece, you move a bit at a time to get through there way more efficiently.

also, she had it so you could get back onto the track in every room if you fell off up until the prize room. The one with the hill was tricky, but with patience you could get back on. You just have to wait for no peeps coming up and over while your trying to get back on.

I would tell you I had a lucky day, but I got way to many poles to call it luck ROFL

I like the ride-a-thons, but I always end up getting items that I never use. I think the exception was the royal items. You can never have too many clouds or columns or royal chairs.

Now what am I going to do with 130+ barstool poles?

they are building blocks, they are only good in big numbers :thumbsup2

You rode it 130 times??? Wow, I only rode it I think 7 times.

I would love it if VMK would finally create a ride start piece that you could place on an exit/entrance space of a room. That way as soon as you got to the room, your character would be on the ride. Many of the large queue problems could be solved with this programming change.

All in all, I enjoyed the design of the ride and I wish they would keep rooms like this around permanently.

Yes, thanks to "Team Power." :thumbsup2

If you see Hank_Scorpio, Count_de_Monet, GuySmiley, and the rest, say hello; that's me too

I only have Firefox and VMK Pal to do 2 at once, and even doing that will
crash the heck outta me. XD Oh well.

You know, this time I think it was intentional to be spaced that way. She was making it feel more like the queue in real. but yes ride starts on an actual exit piece not just close to it would be very cool @_@

We'll see soon enough if she changed anything overnight. Guess we will find out how bad the complaints were ROFL.

I got around 6 poles... I was more focused on the salad yesterday :)

Ha ha you funny in the begginning it was horrible normally if you click start piece you go there. Because of lag 75% was not working I think becasue person was in the way.

I did compensate to avoid a line with a person not moving in it. And would make small clicks maybe 10 to get on ride.

But some times the lag was so bad in the morning I was getting go go and could not move. So I am glad you lucked out.

I was sitting in my room totally frustrated. Though about 8 ok things did work pretty,

your mistake belle was clicking the start piece, there was no direct path while people were moving. You click to the center of the room, then to the tree, then to the start piece. Honest, if you do that you will have no problem.
