on a brighter note...

do you think we should do Poly then Wilderness cabins, or reverse...

I'm leaning towards cabins, then Poly....

Good luck to your DS tonight....

I can't believe it but I'm still awake!!! Catching up:

Sean Connery is high on my list too Glo!

Laura - My Matthew is a very early riser.....always has been.....fortunately he likes being up alone.....TV to himself, that kind of thing......so he usually doesn't bother us when he's up between 6-7 EVERYDAY...geez, this kid will be a teen soon......but I don't think he'll change even then.

Stephanie - the Reserves isn't the "part-time job" it was just a few years ago, is it? We have family members who are either in the Reserves or the National Guard....and friends who are active-duty in almost all branches of the service. I admire them all.

Ironically, we just finished watching A Few Good Men.

Heading back to catch some of the news.....

Hi Gail-
I'm still up too but, I'm getting ready to settle into bed with my book,
DS's team came from behind & won 4-2:D YAY!!!
I'll see ya'll tomorrow!

Good for him!!!!

I'm re-reading the Harry Potter books in anticipation of #5 in June.......I'm on #3 right now. WHat are you reading?

I am off to bed...night night all!! Have a great one!

Good Night Glo!

Right now I'm reading a Jill Churchill novel called "War & Peas". It's a light & fun mystery series she writes aout a couple of neighbors (housewives) who solve crimes. They're easy reading & fun!
I'm gonna start next months book club book next.....it's called "Thirty Nothing" by Lisa Jewell.
I LOVE to read & I read a lot!!!

I don't read as much as I used to.....it's this darn computer's fault!!! We did go to the library today......Matt had to meet a friend to work on a project. I grabbed a few books to take on the ride to New York next week.

EB (Elizabeth) is quite the reader.....she chose 6 books and had one finished by early evening. She's starting to read my old Nancy Drew books too and that's fun for me because we can talk about the stories.

I just saw the coolest calendar at the bookstore last week! It was all of the old Carolyn Keene "Nancy Drew" book covers:D
I read them all & LOVED them!! Nancy, Bess & George & Ned were my favorite crime solvers!!!:D :p :D

I've seen that calendar too!

Did you know there are several "versions" of each ND story? Most of mine are from the 1960's but one, "The Secret of the Brass Bound Trunk" was a different story entirely, probably from the 50's. If you look at some now they've been modernized quite a bit.

No, I didn't realize that.......interesting.
Mine were given to my niece & then I guess my sister just got rid of them.....I wish I still had them.

I'm off to bed...........see ya tomorrow

Rise and shine everyone!:sunny:

My DS has been reading the Hardy Boys books a lot and he loves them. I used to love reading Nancy Drew and the Little House books. My DD is on the second book in the Little House series right now. I used to read all of the time, but too many other things get in the way right now. :( Mary Higgins Clark and other mystery books are usually what I choose.

Did anyone watch the Nancy Drew movie that was on a few months ago? I was all excited to watch it, but I thought it was terrible. We turned it off halfway through. She was a little too "modernized" for my tastes. (OMG - I'm turning into my mother  ). She kept saying "crap" and "damn" and I felt that my DD didn't need to be hearing that. They must have been trying to reach a teenage audience.:(

Off for another long day. I'll try to stop by and check in when I can.

Good morning everyone. Just stopping in before church.

I really enjoyed What Lies Beneath last night. It was scary!

Hope to see you all later.

Good Morning Everyone!!

I will be in and out today too.

Laura-If you like Mary Higgins Clark (I read hers too) you will probably enjoy the Jill Churchill books I've been reading...they are the Jane Jeffrey mysteries. I'll bring some to Riddle con for you.

Carol-I'm glad you enjoyed the movie!

Good morning,

I've been up for quite a while but puttering around...helping EB with her shower - she has long hair and can't rinse it well.....laundry, all that fun stuff. Now I'm making a card for a birthday party we're going to later.

I'm another Mary Higgins Clark fan too - why am I not surprised!!! If anyone likes medical mysteries, Tess Gerritsen has written a few good ones. I also like Robin Cook.

Looks like everyone will be in and out today. Stay warm and dry. It's raining now but earlier it was a combination of snow & sleet - yuck!

Another Mary Fan here too. I love her books! I also like the 'cute cat' mysteries by Lilian Jackson Braum..anyone read her stuff?

I am off to Ottawa for a skate on the canal and a beaver tail..YUMMY!!

Have a great day all!

I likje Mary Higgins Clark also, and have read her daughter, Carol Higgins Clark. I like Diane Mott Davidson, who writes mysteries based on her main character who is a caterer.

Went to church, which was good because the senior paster was gone and we had the associate pastor speak. Now planning to go out and look for some cheap furniture to furnish the basement.

Thanks Lars! I will try to look for some Jill Churchill books to read. Gosh, do the kids really take up so much of my time that I never have time to read or cross stitch anymore? I am not complaining, because before I know it they will be off and on their own, and DH and I will spend all of our time sitting and staring at each other.

I have been working at Piratefest all weekend. It is a big indoor celebration of Pittsburgh Pirates baseball. We have games, trivia contests, player appearances, and memorabilia displays. I have it easy, however. I just have to go out every hour or so and collect money and bring it back to the "money room". We are hiding out in here wasting time on the internet and watching movies like Monsters Inc. DH and his sister and her DH are running the Dart Game. They have had non-stop crowds the whole weekend!

Sounds like everyone's is enjoying an activity-filled weekend!!!

As I now am happily dancing the single digit dance, I spent a good part of today packing and trying to encourage my niece to think about doing the same....you know how teenagers can be...we're leaving a week from this coming Wednesday at about 5:00AM - my guess is she'll be packing on Tuesday PM at about 11:00 PM!!!!

Hope everyone's enjoying what's left of the weekend! We've got a blistering 40 degrees here today on Long Island...in SPITE of what the Groundhog said!

Be well!

:D

after a hectic day yesterday, I've done NOTHING today.....well, that's not exactly true...but for the most part....

We got another 6 inches of snow overnight...blech....

Just finished a Fern Michael's book that was excellent...normally I'm not crazy about her, but I found it in the back of a closet, and I was out of reading material.....Have never been able to get into MHC....

Will probably check back in later, if not, bright and early in the riddle tomorrow.

edited to add....HEY>>>>LOOK<<<<<<
