I'm not sure if I am in the right place for this question but. Where can I get some info on this. How much it is. What all do you get to do. How do you get there if you don't have a car. I think it is close to the Poly but I am not sure. We are staying at POFQ and I would love for this to be my hubbies fathers day present. Plus a brib to get him to go to Disney again this year. Thank Brenda :rotfl:

I gave the Rookie experience to hubby for valentine's day and I am still da bomb at my house :teeth:

Try pettyracing.com The site is set up for all of the different racing facilities that they travel too, but it has specific information about the WDW track as well. Hubby loved it!!!

You can find all of the information on the different experiences, as well as pricing, on their website, www.1800bepetty.com.

We had a rental car when my SO did the driving experience, but I believe there is a shuttle from TTC to the track. I'm sure someone else will be able to verify this.

Your hubby will love it, my SO did the Rookie Experience in February and still talks about it.

I've got my DH signed up to do the Rookie experience for his father's day present. He'll be going the day after father's day. I CAN'T WAIT to surprise him with it!!! :Pinkbounc

Just thought I'd mention a few things about the Richard Petty Driving Experience that might help you decide.... :goodvibes

1) The interior of the car gets very hot. You are required to wear a jump-suit (long sleeves, long pants) on top of your regular clothing. Think even *hotter*.

2) You have to be 18 y.o. with a valid drivers license. You *must* be able to drive a manual transmission (stick-shift).

3) You need to sign legal waivers (simply stating that if *anything at all* should happen, the RPDE isn't responsible). It's a rather lengthy document.

4) You are required to wear closed-toe shoes (although I would call and check on this as it might've changed).

5 Stock car doors do not open so you need to make sure that you can *fit* through a 15" x 30" window that sits 36 inches from the ground. My SIL fit fine. However, my Hubby (who is 6'5", 265 pounds... could not fit). The seat is *not* adjustable, so ask if they have different car that might fit you better.

7) If the track is at all wet (or under a threat of getting wet) they will not run the cars.

8) There is a small area for spectators next to the classroom area. Sometimes it has a canopy over it. But after the hurricanes this past season, I'd call ahead to make sure it's still there. For the most part, you will be in the open air in full sun.

9) If you have any form of claustrophobia, this may not be for you. The helmet + the closeness of the car can make you skittish.

This is just my opinion, but I wouldn't take small kids. There is really nothing there at all for them to do. The track is very isolated once you're *inside*. It is probably the most UN-Disney area in WDW. If you do have young kids, bring something for them to do. There is a good chance they'll get bored.

Hope this helps ~ :goodvibes

DH has done this 2 times. He loved it. All of the info in the above posts is great and accurate from what I recall. There is a shuttle from TTC by the Pet Kennel and lost and found. I do not know the schedule for it though.

the last time DH went, I had a Spa Day at GF and was it wounderful!

Most of the things you said are correct, zig.

You do still have to wear closed toe shoes. There is a canapy there over the spectator area. I took my 5 and 3 year old sons to see their dad drive and there was plenty going on with the cars and watching dad for them to stay entertained. (Dad went early and did his class and we got there in time to see him drive). There is transportation from the TTC if you aren't driving. If you are, simply follow the signs and you will come to a guard shack and he will tell you when it is clear for you to head under the racetrack and park.

There is a gift shop of sorts next to the classroom and they will take pictures and offer them for sale to you after everyone runs their laps. Kinda pricy, but well worth it to me for hubby.
