Richard Petty Rookie Experience

How soon do reservations have to be made to do the Richard Petty Driving School? Does it fill up fast? We are considering going in January - can we wait until just a few weeks before or do we need to decide now? Also, any comments on the experience would be great. Can I and my children watch my husband drive or does he have to go to the track alone? If I can take the children will they be bored waiting or is there something to look at while the driving school is taking place? Thanks for your comments!

I'm not sure about the kids being bored while they are waiting but I can answer some of your questions. I called them the other day because I'm also interested in giving this to my husband for christmas. I was thinking of letting him do this the first week in Jan. and she didn't think I would have a problem getting my dates if I waited. She even suggested I get him a gift cert. instead of booking the date right away, but I think I'm going to pick a date so that it's all planned. They do this twice a day once in the early AM and then at 1pm. I think the class is only one hour and then we get to watch all the cars take turns going around the track. So I think you will proably have to amuse your kids for the first hour. Then they can cheer on the drivers. Call them up and check on your dates. They can give you a better idea. The woman was very nice. 800) BE-PETTY. Oh and I also read on these boards that if you have an orlando magic card you save 10%. I forgot to ask about this but will when i make my ressies.
