I was so nervous about staying in a Wing room at The Contemporary-
We checked in, our TA (DU) apparently had not made doubly sure that our room request was given- they had nothing in their system-didn't even know it was our anniversary, we were checking in in the afternoon. So our options were a smoking King in the South wing or a Non smoking 2 queens in the North
We went for the North and had to sleep in seperate beds. It was a downside and took me a little while to get out of my funk.
They were painting the hallways while we were there (last month) and we never were disturbed.
Our room was about the 5th room down on the left when coming from the tower, on the first floor. What a location! It was great. Soooo close to the tower and the pool, just flip flop myself on over for a dunk at in the afternoon.. and from the monorail- swing left when exiting the monorail (opposit of the crowd's direction) and take the "EXIT" door- no one stopped us. Its obviously used by smokers, but provides a direct decent from monorail to the North Wing- brings you out to the viewing benches on side of building- continue on down the stairs and POOF! You are at the North Wing side enterence.
Our room was also perfect for sitting in our chairs at night and viewing fireworks- and the castle!
During the day bunnies nibbled on grass in front of us- I saw as many as 5 at one time. We sat on the chairs on our patio quite often, it wasn't too hot and was enjoyable. True, you have the parking lot in front of you and the monorail, but it was easy to over look.
The room has bad stains on the rug, but since lighting isn't bring it really didn't bother us at all. The easy access to everything was so awesome!
I would stay in the Wings again in a heartbeat!
