Review of new 'Ohana menu with pictures

LOVED your review!!!!!

Do you know if the sausage is beef, pork or turkey? Thanks!

Pork :)

And I would love it if the pineapple bread was available at Kona, but I'm pretty sure they're not going to be using it anywhere

A couple years ago we had some friends over at the beach and we had gotten some awesome shrimp. This man sits there and just starts eating them, peel and all.

:crazy2:

thanks for the reviews and pic. still don't get how the potatoes go with the "theme' but they look good
3 questions, can you get more shrimp if you want since they basically are "courses" and 2 do they serve any bread...husband feels he must have bread or it isn't really a meal adn is the sausage spiced more like italina sausage or more like breakfast sausage...any thing you could compare it too?

Well, the idea of the skewers isn't even Hawaiian/Polynesian, it's Brazilian, so I don't really see it as having much of a theme sometimes :earboy2:

Yep, you can get more shrimp, and the wontons are technically your "bread"

Great review & pics. Thanks for taking the time to post. GL with the job!!! I hope you get it.

Does anyone know if kids can still order something else if the menu doesn't appeal to them? I thought they use to bring stuff over from Kona Cafe?
Thanks

Michelle

PS - Thanks for the review and pictures. :flower:

Are the meats still served on skewers? Thanks for the pics.

horrible. It looks pathetic. I loved that meal before. I have the recipe for the pineapple bread and wings. It will be Ohana night at our house anyways.

Thanks for the review. Ohana's has been our favorite in the past and your pictures look so good!!!

Can't wait to try it next month.

Are they bringing out each dish separately?

They bring out the wontons, then the salad, then the shrimp+chicken, then the veggies+potatoes, skewers (yes, the meat is still on skewers :) ), and dessert. So some are separate, some are together.

Yep, the table next to us asked for chicken strips for their child and received them.

The food quality is now much, much better than it ever was, and I think the previous menu pales in comparison to how it is now. But to each their own.

Shoot, shoot, shoot! I jumped on the bandwagon and cancelled my ressie for OHana and made it for Kona instead. I wonder if I should try to get back into OHana? I think I will show DH your photos and let HIM choose! :)

We love Kona, it's one of our very favorite sit downs at Disney. Have you been before?

Actually no. But we have never been to OHana's either. We are trying to hit places where we have never been since we have Free Dining. Truthfully, I am sure that I will be VERY happy at Kona - the menu sounds wonderful. ::yes:: But I guess, from what I understand, O'hana is more fun and you might get a nice view of the MK. But also, from what I understand, we can get the view by strolling around the Poly before or after dinner, and the fun - well we will just have to provide that ourselves. ;)

If you can, you should do both. I am very excited to try Ohana this trip because I was not that thrilled with it in the past but yet I love the atmosphere there. So, I am happy that the menu has changed. However, Kona is my favorite place to eat at WDW. And going to visit the Poly is a treat in itself. You could not go wrong if you ate at both places. :flower:

Did I miss the pictures?

They're at the very end, at a link. I don't post my pictures directly on the thread for the sanity of those with a modem, and I use my permanent picture gallery.

I'd definitely say stick with Kona, then! Kona and 'Ohana are great in their own ways, each has strengths and weaknesses. The food is much better at Kona, but yes, 'Ohana has the atmosphere. Yes, I'll hope you will be very happy at Kona :) I even think the wings are much better at Kona!

Forever 42, thanks again for you awesome reviews. Looks like we will try Ohana again. The Orange Tang looks good.. :drinking1 definitely will try that!

Welcome :) It's the Yellow Tang, btw - not sure what you'll get if you ask for an Orange Tang ;)
