I have eaten at Liberty Tree Tavern before and enjoyed it immensely. I love the colonial feel that one gets inside the restaurant. I also like the oak paneling that adds to the general atmosphere.
I had a noon reservation and was about ten minutes early. I waited in the lobby for the call of "Charles from Connecticut" to be seated. I was brought to my table for two and had a good view of the dining room. Being a single diner, I love to people watch and when I get tired of doing that, I catch up on my note taking.
I started my meal with the Celebration Salad. I had the same salad the last time I ate at Liberty Tree but it didn't taste the same as I remembered. The first time I had salad with the strawberry vinaigrette. It was delicious. This time I opted for roasted garlic buttermilk dressing. That was a mistake. It simply was not as good as I remembered.
I followed the salad with my entree: the New England Pot Roast. It was very good but a bit too much for a lunch. The roast beef rested on a bed of mashed potatoes and smothered with gravy and fried onions. I couldn't finish it. But it was better than the entree I had on my previous visit: Roast Turkey.
For dessert, I had the Liberty Shortcake, which I had had previously. And as then it was delicious. The very large "homemade" buiscuit was fresh and split. Inside were piled strawberries and blueberries along with vanilla ice cream. Then all this was covered with whipped cream. It was a large dessert but it was good!!!
In fact, I would go to Liberty Tree just for this dessert. It is the second most delicious dessert at WDW. (My favorite dessert was at Ragland Road Irish Pub and Restaurant but more about that later.)
I would give the Liberty Tree Tavern four and a half stars. I will return to it, if not on my next trip, then sooner rather than later.
