Here's a crazy question ;)

We are flying into FLL 2 days before our check-in date at WDW. We are renting a car in FLL then driving to MCO to return our rental car before we use DME to go to POFQ. Is there an easy way to return our Budget Rental Car then get to DME (which I think is on Level 1 of Terminal B)?????

Hopefully this doesn't confuse anyone :confused3 I know that I am very confused right now :rotfl2:

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Should be very easy. The car rental counters are on the same level as DME. In fact, you have to walk by the car rental counters to get to DME.....there was one time that the line for DME checkin was so long that it stretched back to the car rental area!!! Don't panic...that was only one time at an incredibly busy time.

So, you want to head to Side B of the terminals.....you can return your car to Budget on Side A if I remember correctly, but then you have to cross over to Side B and that's a pain with luggage. So, go to Side B, return the car and then continue on down that area to DME. The walk is about 45 seconds..yes, it's that close.

On your way from FLL to MCO, stop by POFQ, check in, take your bags to the room, and let everyone but the driver remain there while the driver returns the car.

Now only the driver has to waste time (around two hours) returning the car and taking DME back to the resort. As goofy4tink recommended, return the car to Budget on side B ("Terminal B") at the airport and cross the street to side B level 1 to check in for your DME reservation.

Have you looked into returning your car to Budget at WDW instead of at the airport? Consider the following Budget location:

DOUBLETREE @ WALT DISNEY WORLD BUDGET CAR RENTAL
2305 HOTEL PLAZA BOULEVARD
ORLANDO, FL 32830 US
Location code M03
Free pick-up service!

This Budget location is very close to POFQ. They have a free local pick-up service, so they should also provide free local drop-off service (driving you to POFQ after you complete the car return).

If you could return your car at the Doubletree (which would mean changing your Budget reservation), you could be back with your family much sooner. You have a one-way rental anyway, so the price is probably similar (unless you have a special rate that only applies at major airports).

Let us know if this works for you.

Duh.....absolutely drop everyone off at the resort first, with bags. And if you can get the same rate to drop off at DTD, do that. Then, you can catch the boat back to POFQ if you want.
Stupid, stupid me. Need to wake up more before responding to posts.:surfweb:

The Doubletree is at the other end of Hotel Plaza Blvd from the boat dock adjacent to Rain Forest Cafe at DTD. Taking the boat to POFQ would first require walking 3/4 of a mile and waiting for the boat (during boat operating hours).

It's probably much faster for someone returning a car at the Doubletree to take the Budget shuttle to POFQ. If you some reason that's not an option or the wait for the shuttle is significant, then, yes, walking to DTD and using Disney transportation (bus or boat) would be an option.

Absolutely. My issue is that sometimes there aren't shuttle people available..so, while there are at times, shuttle rides back to resorts, sometimes there just aren't. So, walking over to DTD and the boat is a good alternative. Or, just taking a cab back as well, Or even, heaven forbid, the bus.

Thank you for all of your help! We probably will have to drop off at the airport because I think the Doubletree rental office closes at 10:00pm and we probably won't make it there in time. We are celebrating my Grandmother's 99th birthday that day and can't really leave FLL until about 7:00pm. Thank you for all of the specific information. It really helps a lot!!! :thumbsup2

Oh, then definately drop everyone off at the resort first. They can get unpacked and settled in for the night. Just one person needs to return the car at MCO.
