For anyone that is Catholic, you know all too well how hard it is to find a priest to marry you in a venue other than a church. With that being said, Disney is a destination wedding for me, and we are both Catholic and have nuns in the family. Although it will upset them that I am not in a church, I still would like to try to find a priest in the Orlando area who will come to Disney.

When we were planning the more "traditional" wedding back in NJ, I was able to find retired priests who were willing.

Anyone know of a retired priest?

I'm going through the delima right now, as my DF is catholic and I've considered becoming catholic, we've talked to the church about this option and are waiting to hear from the preist so that we can figure out if he is willing to marry us at Disney, as I know it's against the religion you could say but this is one thing that I'm in a bind about. I'm sorry I can't help you. I know that Rev Jack Day does have a catholic cermony so I'm still trying to figure out it this will sufice good enough for DF's mom and everyone will be happy in the end. Because my dream is to be at Disney and no one will shatter it.

If you're looking to have a full Mass, that's not going to happen on Disney property, or anywhere else besides inside a Catholic church. If you're open to having a ceremony without Mass, I'm sure you'll find someone for $$$. They're not all sworn to poverty!

We are using Rev. Tim Herring, and having a Catholic ceremony. You are not allowed to have an actual "mass" outside of the Catholic church. Basically Rev. Herring gave us this planning book to choose our readings and responsorials, and the entire ceremony is modeled after a mass but there is no Eucharist.

Thanks everyone, I know all about the full mass issue, trust me I have many many years of Catholic school under my belt :). I was just hoping to get a retired priest so my aunt feels somewhat better.

Will you please PM me his information so that I may contact him and see his options vs. Rev Jack Day. Thank you :worship:

It just occurred to me that a deacon, not a priest, married my brother and his non-demoninational wife in the Catholic church. Maybe that's another option for you. I presume he was Catholic...

Thank you for asking this question! You have made me feel better and I am sure my Aunt and Grandmother will be sending you thank you vibes. :worship: My fiance and I are both Catholic, and we were hoping that we could somehow incorporate our religious background during our wedding ceremony. THANKS again. :dance3:

I don't remember anyone on the board using them, but there is an orgainization of priests, who have left the priesthood who do Catholic weddings. As it was explained to me, basically it is still a legitimate Catholic wedding on technicality. Once a priest, the blessing power still stands. You can read about them at rentapriest.com (yes, really that is the site). It wasn't as important to me to be married by a priest as to be married in a church, which almost 7 years later hasn't happened yet. I never actually looked into it, but it is an option.
