Rethinking Tusker House Time

I snagged an 8:15 Tusker House breakfast for 5 when the window opened to make my ADRs. Now I'm rethinking if I want to keep it or change it to 10:30. At first I wanted to do the prepark opening breakfast, but after reading some reports on here that you have to wait in multiple lines and it takes awhile to get seated, not sure if it's worth it. We don't mind if we miss some characters or if we're done a few minutes after rope drop, it just seems it might be a hassle to do the prepark opening breakfast.
If I change it to 10:30, I'll have to make 2 reservations because there isn't availability for 5, but there is for 2 and 3. Splitting up won't be a big deal since we're traveling with my in-laws and DD could choose to sit with them or us.
Should I keep the 8:15 or switch to 10:30? Is there something I'm not thinking of that would make one better than the other?

Last year, I had an ADR at TH on Thursday, 10/23 at 8:20. We were seated quickly and had no issues. Characters came around fairly quickly. After that I remember going on Kilimanjaro Safaris. I'm hoping to do the same on this trip.

I like doing late breakfast seatings. We ride as much as we can for the first few hours while crowds are low. We're ready for the break by 10:30. On our last trip we had a late breakfast at Tusker House & loved it. While we were there they had started putting lunch items out so DH was able to sample some of their lunch offerings which he really enjoyed. I was too full by that point but if we ever do that again I'll make sure to leave a little room. Another benfit of late breakfast is we don't need lunch that day...maybe just a snack to hold us until dinner.

What mommyboys3 said! A breakfast at 10:30 will afford you the opportunity to try some lunch items, as well!

I would switch it. If you're going early for the purposes of beating rope drop, it's a real waste of money, in my opinion. What's the point of paying the exorbitant prices to miss characters and eat your food quickly???

I would say it's just personal preference and what exactly you want to do in the park. We had an 820 ressie at TH in March and it was no problem to get into the park and we were seated right away at TH. The characters came fairly quickly. We were out of there close to 10am and headed straight to the safari where there was no wait. We had FP for everest so we weren't concerned about getting to that quickly or anything.

We have done both an 8:05 and 10:30 (on different trips) and have found we like the late breakfast. When we did the 8:05, we felt rushed and did not enjoy. When we did the 10:30 we rode a few rides then went to breakfast and took our time. The added bonus was that we were able to skip lunch that day and had a snack instead. It just worked better for our family.

We like the late breakfast times so we can snag some lunch food too

I am also debating this!!! Have both ressies and am leaning towards 10:30 as we did 8 last year and while it was nice I felt like I had to rush to get out by 9!

I have a 8:10 reservation for 5 people in October. I choose the early time so we can get in and out just in time for park opening. When are you going? Maybe you get seated faster when you go in the off season?

OP here, thanks for all the replies. I have spoken with DH and he prefers the earlier time, so I guess I'll keep the 8:15 for now. I would probably prefer the later time, but I have to think about others on this trip.

I have a couple of pre-park ADRs but after reading this thread, I think I am going to change them. Thinking back on when we had them on previous trips, we did feel rushed.

We prefer the early time. We've done this character meal a few time and always get there prior to our ADR and have no problem getting to our rides. Especially with FP+ now, you can plan your rides a little better than running to EE at rope drop.
