Rethinking Kouzzina

We had dinner there 9/3 and it was just "OK". DH had the steak which he loved, I had the pork t-bone which was OK, two DDs had the pastitsio that was rather bland and our youngest DD had the kids meal snapper which was great. Dessert was very good, but we all agreed that dessert alone wasn't enough to get us back there again. As terrible as it sounds, we wished we'd kept our ADR for Planet Hollywood instead of Kouzzina.

We ate there on Sunday night and it was absolutely wonderful. We had the saganaki appetizer to share (I'm sure it was a good example of what it was, but now I've had it, I don't think I'll have it again). I had the fisherman's stew which was great, my husband had the lamb shank which was absolutely to die for, and for dessert he had baklava and I had galaktoboureko (both some of the best we've had, not necessarily *the* best). We also loved that you can get a half bottle of most wines, which was exactly the right amount to go with our meal.

There actually isn't anywhere we ate that I wouldn't be happy to eat again, but Kouzzina was our second favorite restaurant of the trip (it lost out narrowly to Jiko--but Kouzzina beat out Narcoosee's and Kona by a fair margin). When my husband ordered our desserts (I was in the restroom) the waitress said "Good choices" and he said "Is there anything that wouldn't have been?" and she said "Actually the problem that the waitstaff have since the transition is that there used to be things that were better than others that we could recommend, but since the transition everything is great and we never know what to recommend." In fact I heard her giving her opening spiel to several tables around us and she did seem to recommend different dishes to each. BTW she was one of 3 servers (out of 9 TS meals) who got a 20% tip from us.

The food is indeed "different," you probably have to like ethnic food to like it.

The menu definitely doesn't sound as mainstream as other restaurants, and it is that fact that is drawing me to wanting to go there in February. I am just excited to have a new offering that is different than anywhere else, and of course -Cat Cora is a big draw.

Does anyone know if they have shut the window for good on the pizza window, or is this being utilized in some way, shape or form?
It is there and as far as I could tell, was serving pizza just like always.

We ate at Cat's twice last week. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. Breakfast was quite good. Dinner was fantastic!! We shared the breads and spreads appetizers which was YUMMY. I had the Fishermen's Stew and my husband had the Whole Fish. Both were very good and tasty. The couple next to us had the lamb shank and were raving about it throughout their meal. We enjoyed everything and it is already on the list for next year.

Don't let someone else's bad review make up your mind for you. It's definitely not burgers and fries, but it is a WELCOME addition to a Disney line up that is becoming way too similar in offerings.

Does the fisherman's stew have alot of tomatoes? I am going in a couple of weeks and thought this looked good but I don't care for cooked tomatoes.

Thanks!

It doesn't have pieces of tomato in it but it was a spicy tomato-based sauce ... tasted a little like a thinner vodka sauce, but a little bit spicy.

I might go ahead and give it a try. I saw a picture on another post and it looked so good.
