Restrooms while in line

I am sure there will be a way, but still I will ask. Do people behind you object if you go for quick rest room break and come back while in long line (those 90 min kind) ? Also are rest rooms near by long lines ?

Depends on the ride, some have restrooms close by and some don't.

Generally speaking, if one person leaves the line and comes right back, its usually not a big deal. But if you wait until the very end to jump in line, or have one person holding a spot for 10 others, then you may have a problem.

Most people understand. Just talk to the person behind you. More then likely they will have to go also and you can hold their spot.

Be aware that a lot of the lines are not easy to get in and out of due to their layouts. The best way to curb this is taking a bathroom break prior to jumping into a long line.

I don't mind if I am behind you. It happens. Our girl has a small bladder and it happens alot to us. She gets back to us by using the fast pass line. She just tells the CM she needs to catch up with her family. She is 13.

I have been wondering about this myself. I have been holding off on potty trining my 3 year old as I think it would be VERY at WDW especially since we are going in less than a month

We potty trained our 3 yr old before going, but still used pull-ups for the park. It made it much easier not having to worry if we were in a spot where we couldn't get to the restroom in time.

As for leaving the line and coming back... just turn around and ask the person behind you to hold your spot for you. I doubt anyone will care in the least.

Really? Even if it's a little kid needing to go? Sometimes my kids can go (say before we get in line) and suddenly need to go again...

Sometimes people can't wait 90 mins to go to the bathroom, even if they go right before they get in line. I think its selfish to expect that everyone can "just wait and not drink".

If it's just you and your child (or spouse or parent or whoever) and you leave the line to use the restroom and there's no one else in your party "holding" your spot, then you're kind of out of luck. You're back at the end of the line. That's just basic line etiquette.

However, if your spouse or friend is holding your place while you take your child out to use the potty, then most folks will not object to you going back in line after a quick potty trip, unless you show back up with ten other people.

But, as a PP said, many lines are not that easy to get out of or back into, so you may find yourself back at the end of the line anyway, just because of impracticality.

Yep, our first trip with a potty trained kid was less than 2 months after potty training. We put on pull ups LOL. When our daughter potty trained, we didn't bring pull ups - but that girl can hold it for HOURS!! haha (not that we encourage that but really she will hold it until we can find the bathroom)

But logic also dictates that if you know going in that the line is 90 min (which you will, because it's posted) and you know that you generally cannot go 90 min without having to go to the bathroom, then don't get in the line. Wait for a shorter line, pick up a FP, get in the single rider line, whatever. But if you know you can't wait an hour between bathroom trips because you're pregnant or have a bladder problem or whatever, then most folks don't put themselves in situations where they might be stuck in an interior line that is difficult to get out of and then back into. You just need to size up each line when you get into it.

My daughter has a urinary tract disorder and has had surgery 3 times. She can't hold it very long. I've had to leave several lines with her at WDW and the people behind have never said anything when I came back, even without explaining the situation. I've always wondered if maybe I should get one of those guest assistant cards just in case I get in front of a jerk one day, but I've never had to.

You are entitled to your opinion, but here are 3 points to consider:

1 - Even if a child goes before they get on line, they might not be able to hold it for 90 minutes.

2 - Deciding not to drink while on line in the heat could be dangerous. Drinking regularily is necessary at WDW most months.

3 - There are people (of all ages) with conditions that require frequent bathroom breaks. You cannot tell by looking at someone if they suffer from one of these conditions.

IMO - as long as you are not being inconsiderate of others (as long as you have taken precautions to avoid it) there is nothing wrong with it, at all. However, joining a line when some of your party is in the rest room is wrong, IMO. Our rule - we all get in line together, and we always ask if anyone has to go potty before we get in a line.

I always assume that others have been considerate when I see this. Assuming the best in others keeps me positive...

Maybe, but that's what my parents taught me when I was a kid - if you get out of the line, you have to start over.

And with the advent of FastPass at WDW, 90-minutes stand-by lines are fairly uncommon. They happen mostly during the busiest times of year on the busiest attractions; during the off-seasons, you almost never see a 90-minute stand-by line except on Soarin'. I usually go during an off-season, and I haven't seen a 90-minute stand-by line at WDW in about 10 years (except at Soarin').

The whole "take a little kid for a potty break" thing doesn't happen all that often, and when it does, I'm pretty flexible about it, so long as the people are polite. The true line cutters are those who shoulder their way past you in the queue as if they were going for a touchdown in the Super Bowl, then give you a dirty look afterward as if it was your fault that they bumped into you.

To the OP: Bathrooms are spread throughout each park, but not necessarily right next to any particular attraction. If you have someone in your party who needs to go a lot, be sure to pick up a park map when you enter the park, and use it to locate and use the nearest bathroom before you get into a long line. You might not be able to make it through the whole line without having to take a break, but at least you will tip the odds in your favor by taking a leisurely, calm bathroom break before you enter the line.

Can't you just feel the love??? Hope to never be you in line when something unexpected happens. I have gotten into Buzz Lightyear when the sign said 20 min... but didn't account for how many times it would stop due to breakdowns. In general, most people have more empathy and understanding than this.

Wow! That's pretty rough, and I'm not known as being the most compassionate person.

Really, it depends on the situation. If you're an hour into a 90-minute wait, and you can easily get out / back, then I say go for it. If you're 15 minutes into a 90-minute wait, then you probably should have gone before you got in line. I'm also MUCH more forgiving when it comes to well-behaved children.
