I was wondering if there are many restraunts(not counting on-site at Vero) within a short driving distance. This will be our first trip to Vero (6-29-02 to 7-5-02). We are staying in a 1BR, and requested top floor, ocean view.
Also is their a mall, or movie theater close buy? We are flying down from Ohio, but renting car for our stay.We have been to OKW (homebase 3 times) and HH last summer. We heard Vero is nice and relaxing and that is what my wife and I are looking for with this trip.
I would very much appreciate any help on these subjects.

Thanks

There is shoping and movies at VB a 10-20 minute ride.Lot of restaurants around the area. I liked Ocean Grill In Vero Beach -Capt Hirams in Sabastian.and The Patio on rt #1 in Vero.Good luck on your trip I m sure you will enjoy it!!!!

I second Jimmy's suggestions although I've only actually tried (and enjoyed) the Ocean Grill. The Black Pearl is often mentioned as being quite good, too.

If you turn left out of the resort and head down A1A you'll head into Vero Beach proper. Along the way there is a small shopping area on the left and the in Vero there are some lovely shops to poke around in. I'm not sure of your ages but they are more appealing for an older shopper (not kids).

Look at a map and/or get directions out to State Road 60. Here you will find a large mall with additional shopping in the area. A little further up the road there is a very large outlet center shopping center as well.

Jimmy and Pam, thanks for the tips and advice. We appreciate the advice and are looking forward to our trip. Also thanks for the tips on shopping(we are both 45) and are going alone on this trip.

Thanks for the help.

So, where is Girard?

You'll find menus for many restaraunts near the Vero activities desk, there are a couple of binders containing menus. There is also a live theater in Vero, I don't know what will be playing during your trip, but there is a nice calendar of events at:

http://www.verobeach.com/index.cfm?action=showCalendar

It even lists space shuttle launches.

Since you are a fellow Ohioian, I'm sure you'll be interested in the cultural aspects. Vero has:

Music
Indian River Symphonic Association
Treasure Coast Opera Society
Vero Beach Choral Society
Vero Beach Concert Association
Vero Beach Opera Guild

Theatre
Riverside Theatre
Sebastian Performing Arts Center
Vero Beach Theatre Guild

The modern 55,000 square foot Center for the Arts has the largest school associated with a museum in the State of Florida; the 615-seat professional Riverside Theatre; the lovely Anne Morton Theatre which houses the Riverside Children's Theatre; the 51-acre Environmental Learning Center; the 18-acre McKee Botanical Garden, the 312-seat community Vero Beach Theatre Guild ... just to name a few.

We usually hang out in the Green Cabin room eating aligator spring rolls, drinking milkshakes, playing children's games with our kids and listening to the live music.....

Go Buckeyes!

CaptainMidnight, thanks for the info, Girard is about 5 miles north of Youngstown, 8 miles from Pa line, and next to Warren and Niles, Oh.
And yes, Go Buckeyes!!!
