Does anyone know of any good resting spots in Animal Kingdom? I want someplace quiet, where I can sit and put my feet up for an hour or two. Last time I went, I bought a soft drink on Restaurantausaurus in mid-afternoon, when it was fairly quiet. Sat and occasionally sipped, very occasionally. I considered going over to AKL and sitting in Sunset Savannah lounge for a while, but not sure if it would be worth the transit time.

Get a drink and sit on the Nomad Lounge veranda watching the world go buy… and you even get table service.

For an hour or two, I would go over to Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jambo House. There is the main lobby, but also there is a side room off the main lobby. Last time I was there (several years ago), there were chairs outside as well.

Not sure what you mean by "Sunset Savannah lounge." The lounge near the lobby is called Victoria Falls.

A favorite quiet spot for us is the dining area behind Flametree BBQ - nice views, ponds, usually few people.

I'm not sure of the exact layout of Flametree's seating area, but I think whatever tranquility it has might be shattered by KiteTails. I don't know if they intentionally pipe in the music, but I do know you can hear that thing for quite a distance.

(Though if OP still wants to try, there are no shows from 1:30-3:15.)

That said, this thread is making me realize that Animal Kingdom has a bizarre amount of quiet quick service seating. Going deep into the section for Yak and Yeti's quick service or trying the little shaded area behind Tamu Tamu might be workable.

Edit: And the character flotillas. They have their own music and I think they go right up to the back of Flametree. They go along the outside of Nomad Lounge, too, but I don't remember music, so they might turn it down there, but I'm not sure.

Sunset Savannah Lounge is probably the room you mentioned. It's behind the check-in counter. If I remember correctly, the entrance is toward the lobby concierge or DVC area. There's a ramp leading down to the lounge, it overlooks the Sunset Savannah. There's a door to an outside viewing area also. The lounge is sort of round.

FYI, Sunset Lounge and Victoria Falls Lounge are two different things. Victoria Falls Lounge is an actual bar/lounge. Sunset Lounge isn’t a bar, just a lovely seating area with various artifacts and a view of the Sunset Savanna. It’s on the left side of the lobby just past the check in desks, like your describe. From your description, you were definitely in the Sunset Lounge.

I haven’t been to AKL in a few years but last time we were there they’d use that space at times during the day for some of the resort activities. I remember my kids got one of the scavenger hunt charms by learning to play drums there. So fun. Not sure if those are occurring right now or if they are using the space for any other activities.

Hope that helps.

Definitely Nomad Lounge at AK, outside seating. I did a solo day at AK earlier this year and took a mid-afternoon break here. It was very hot outside and I had hoped for an inside table in A/C, but they could only offer outdoor seating since I wanted a table and not to perch at the bar. It was perfect - even though it was a warm day, it was cool and breezy at the covered outdoor tables. I had a view of the river below and while I did see the characters float by, I do not recall that it was loud or noisy.

I ordered a drink and bread service for lunch and spent a good hour or two relaxing, reading a Kindle book on my iPad. It gave me the energy to handle another couple of hours around the park before heading home.

There is a path that veers off from the main pathway between Africa and Asia, on the side opposite to the river. In the middle of that path there is a very small, shaded seating area with two or three tables with chairs (I think it was a smoking area back before they banned smoking inside the parks).

In September I sat there for an hour with my 2yo granddaughter while she napped in her stroller, it was nice and quiet. No guarantee that a loud party won't come and sit by you, but if they don't it's a lovely spot.

That sounds really nice. I hope I can find it.

You can definitely find it. If you're coming from Africa, the entrance to the path is on your left, across from the drums. If you're coming from Asia, it's on your right, just after the bathrooms, which are just after the bird show.
