Any recommendations for restaurants in the universal/sea world area? no dinner theaters & nothing fancy. i'm looking for maybe a steak house, brewery, or italian restaurant that's family/kid friendly. if there's anything themed for kids i'd be interested about that too since we're traveling w/ 2 DDs, 10 months & 3 yr old. Thanks.

My kids have always liked the World's Largest McDonalds on Sandlake and I-Drive. I love the Simpson's pinball machine in the second floor game room.

Cafe Tu-Tu Tango is interesting. It's on I-Drive, inexpensive, and good. It's themed around art, so any artists in the family might like it.

Does this coupon really work? It says very clearly that it is not to be "transferred copied or duplicated in any way or transmitted via electronic media." That sounds to me like it's invalid when printed from an internet page.

Just wondering. (Keeping up with a coupon that won't work would be somewhat of a pain, wouldn't you agree?) It it will actually work, then 15% is a great discount!!
:)

Sweet Tomatoes at I-Drive and Kirkman. Great spot and very close to Universal!

We can't wait to try Sweet Tomatoes when we visit.

We are also excited about visiting the following on our list of "must do's":

Bubba Lou's Bodacious Barbecue-excellent b-b-q – Featured on Food Network-(Kirkman & Conroy, north of USO) 5818 Conroy Rd.

Kobe Steak & Seafood House-5605 S. Kirkman Rd. (exit 75B off I-4 across from Universal). We just tried this restaurant here at home and LOVED IT! A lot of fun.

Ale House-5573 Kirkman Road (Keep hearing nothing but good things about this "pub-type" restaurant with great prices, portions & food).

This info. is copied straight from my "Restaurant Notes" and I obtained all info. from message boards. Sorry if any of the addresses or info. are wrong. This will be our first time in Orlando and we will definately be trying these restaurants as well and I'll give my opinions when we get back.

Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone....ClanHarrison, you're planning ahead just like me..very useful information.

my kids and my wife and i loved that mcdonalds also and there was another one very close nearby that is two-story, but not quite as big. across the street from the World's Largest McDonald's, there is a nice Chick-Fil-A and not too far down the road was a Pizza Hut. hope this helped!!!!!!!!!!

has anyone been to Steak & Ale on Westwood Blvd near Sea World? any steak house recommendations?

Fishbones is very good. they were recently rated as one of the best seafood restaurants in the USA. If I remember corectly it is about a mile from the Mcdonalds mentioned above.

If you have money to spend, go down I-Drive to Charley's steak house. It's been voted in the top 10 steakhouses in the nation several times!

And it's goooooood!

I cant find a website either, but Fishbones is owned by the same company that owns Charley's, Vito's, and Moonfish.

Fishbones has excellent seafood and steaks.

Bahama Breeze is the bomb. They have one down here in Sunrise FL next to the Sawgrass mall. They've got a stack of onion rings with 3 sauces as a good app, plus a few others. And most dishes have some kind of coconut or jamacian spices. The draft beers come in a huge glass, makes waiting for the food fun. Definately get there early at 5pm to avoid the crowd, otherwise you'll have to wait, or have a drink at the bar.

Wow, great choices in this thread. Seem like I'll have to shoot more pictures and update my web pages when I get up there this summer.

i couldn't find a website for Fishbones but it looks good from Tom Horan's review. The orlando ale house on Kirkman rd. has a website - alehouseinc.com - i just wanted to let people know that under the kids menu, you can print out a picture of a fish, have your child color it, then bring it in for a free kids' drink.
i'm looking forward to great dining!
