Restaurants close to (But not in) Universal.

Are there any good restaurants close to citywalk and the parks? We'll be spending two weeks at the HRH but may find it a bit expensive eating there or in CityWalk all the time.
I believe International Drive is within walking Distance (We won't be driving) but we are not familiar with this part of it (Always been the other side of Sand Lake Road) so any info on what is around would be helpful!

I think you'll find International drive a very LONG walk from Universal. However, if you don't mind the hike, I'd recommend Far Pavilion (no pun intended!), a very good Indian restaurant on the Southeast corner of the I-Drive, Kirkman Road intersection. They will adjust the spices to your taste and they give an Entertainment Card discount.

Much closer to Universal is a TGI Friday's at Major Blvd, but I've never tried it. Also on Kirkman is the Orlando Ale House, which has been good the few times I've eaten there. There's a Kobe Steak House, almost next store, a Benihana-style japanese restaurant.

The restaurants in the Radisson Twin Towers (Kirkman Rd) and the Delta Orlando Resort (Major Blvd) are open to non-guests.

Finally if you walk up Kirkman to Vineland and turn right, you'll find a Burger King and farther along a Wendy's. But now we're talking about a pretty fair walk from the parks..

I think we'll give the Indian a miss , we eat too much of it over here! (Although they hardly ever use cheese you know! )

The steakhouse sounds good and the Japanese. What is the Orlando Ale house? ...Sounds good!
How far away would these be from the HRH (The young un's won't walk far after a day in the parks!)

My wife and i just got back from HRH and universal and with little ones there are no restaurants that are within walking distance to HRH.The closest mcdonalds or burger king is about 3 miles away and the TGIfridays is about 2.5 miles.There is a ponderosa steak house on kirkman but it is about 3-4 miles away.The closest places are in city walk lots of choices but not cheap.
