A friend of mine has 7 yo twins and is heading to WDW in August for the first time. I am planning their itinerary for them. Can anyone advise the best restaurants that would work with the following allergies? I know they are all good, but any help would be appreciated. They are staying at the BCV if that is a factor.

eggs
peanuts
tree nuts
peas
beans, except string beans, chick peas, and soy
cantaloupe
raw carrot
sesame

Thank you!

A lot of it really depends on what foods they do like. For example, my DS (milk, egg, nut allergic) is a big eat meater, so we target places like Le Cellier, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Cosmis Rays, Flame Tree BBQ, and Liberty Tree Tavern.

With that many allergies and this being a first trip, I would avoid any non-Disney owned restaurants. I don't have a complete list, but most in the World Showcase (Le Cellier and Biergarten are exceptions), DTD, and Kouzinnas come to mind. Chef Mickey's breakfast is one we do every trip. I've never been for lunch or dinner, so I don't know what they serve FA customers, but for breakfast they should be able to get Mickey Waffles, some safe fruits, sausage, and bacon.

I recently posted my DS's meals for a recent trip. He doesn't have as many allergies as they do, but he has the big ones and I think many of his meals would have worked for your friend.

I see they don't have a dairy allergy, so they should be able to get real butter. Tell her to be sure she never gets offered the "allergy" butter as it is Earth Balance and likely contains peas. I just see this as a possible point where a Chef could slip up.

Bread is going to be an issue. They probably won't be able to have any rolls/bread with meals. The QS buns may be safe if they're not dairy allergic.

It is rather complicated at WDW with nut and legume allergies because a lot of the allergy safe baked goods have legumes. They will probably end up with a lot of pasta, Mac and cheese, and grilled chicken. They need to make sure they don't get the gluten free allergy safe waffles because there are beans. Baby cakes the allergy safe bakery also uses bean flour. Many locations have allergy safe chicken tenders too but from this board it seems like they are not keeping those in stock. Sit down places are much easier with multiple allergies but resort quick service is also usually pretty flexible because they have full kitchens and extra ingredients. In parks sticking to the locations in each park that are on the allergy list is very helpful. In MK cosmic rays usually can offer more than one option and sunshine seasons in Epcot is good too. Bunless burgers and hot dogs are often a last ditch option for me with similar allergies.

Email special diets ahead of time, so that they can forward on the form to the chef.

We ate with multiple lists of allergens, longer than that, with success in September. The chefs are awesome and will work wonders!

Also, I would suggest to her to write up index cards with the list of allergies -- or a list for each twin if they are different. We had cards that we were able to hand to our chef/server (sometimes the servers took them back to the chefs before the chefs even came out) and in many cases, it was *very* helpful. We were sure to let the chefs know the cards were theirs to take/keep/make notes on/take into the kitchen, which helped a lot with them keeping things safe. It's also easier for them to transfer into their little notebooks that way, lol.

My son's allergies are specifically the nut family but even with just one it's challanging. Speical Diets at WDW was amazing. They have an updated food list that literally outlines each and every restaurant, fast food or sit down, snack AND food cart and point out what foods are safe vs. unsafe. Iv'e even brougth snaks INTO the park for my kids- along with Benadryl and Epi-Pens. Bringing your own food isn't generaliy allowed but we brought in small amounts and were fine (I think special diets said we could but I can't remember....).

Be CAREFUL at buffet meals. They tend to be the riskiest. We actually went to a buffet and had the chef cook seperate food for my son- which worked out well - until he hugged a character that had apparently come in contaxct with a very peanut-buttery kid. I was pouring Benadryl down my sons throat while they called an ambulance. He was a giant hive just from contact with the costume. But even with THAT - it was a fantastic trip and we'll do it again. :c) (Mabye not the buffet.....)

When you refer to an updated food list, how recent are you talking about? We went a few weeks ago and the updated list still wasn't available. It was from June 2011 and didn't reflect all the brand changes that have taken place recently.

Sorry to hear about your DS's reaction. I have worried about that before. How was handling of the emergency? Were you happy with the care he received?

Unfortunately they don't have a current list because they are redoing all of their allergy foods right now... I've been waiting patiently because I do ADR's on Feb 22... DS can't have eggs, dairy, soy, wheat, shrimp or nuts. They have been replacing all of the foods that would have been safe for him with items that have eggs, so we will see.
