Restaurant reservations problem

Hoping someone can help me here since I have been on hold with Reservations/Dining for almost 4 hours. I also posted this in the restaurant thread. I called because for medical reasons I may not be able to go on a trip starting October 16 and everything is in my name. I wanted to put stuff in my husband's name. For our Boardwalk reservation, they said it should not be a problem because I added all of the adult guests on My Disney Experience so any one of us can check in, etc. However, when I asked about the restaurant reservations I was told they weren't sure since the "controller" of the reservation cannot be changed and transferred me to Dining to ask about it (and I have been on hold every since). However, before they transferred me, they said I would need to reduce my reservations by one person at least 24 hours before the reservation in order not to be charged. I think this would be a major change and am concerned they would charge the entire thing for the price fix stuff (we have a reservation at Space 220). Will I have to do this remotely if I cannot go? Can you use the update link on MDE for this? Thanks in advance for any help!

As long as someone shows up for the reservation, you are not charged as a no-show if one or two people don't go. It happens a lot. People get sick. Little ones need to go back to the room for a break and Mom or Dad goes with them. Etc. When you do mobile check-in, you just reduce the number in your party.

You will not be able to shift a dining reservation to someone else to control but they can still check in at the podium and give your name. I'm not sure if they can do mobile check in. And they will not be able to modify the reservation to another time or cancel it. Only the lead person can do that.
 
I cannot say what they will do at Space 220, but in the spring we went and we were down 1 party from 4 to 3. There were no issues with any restaurant.
 
Thanks everyone. We will be down from 3 to 2 with some reservations and 5 to 4 for others.
 

As long as a person shows up for a reservation, we have never had an issue or been charged.
Often, if I know we will be down, I will call or stop by the restaurant to let them know if it will change the size of table we need. If it doesn't, I don't.
