Restaurant Recs?

Hey everyone, currently still in the planning stages of my trip to DLP. I'll be going late June/early July for 3 nights staying at the Disneyland hotel. After doing a little tour of London, then onto other regions of France and possibly Venice.

At the moment really looking for restaurant recs. This is going to be a family trip (usually just travel with friends or my Mum/Sister) and so it'll be hard to accomodate everyone. I admit I really know very little about the restaurants at DLP having not been for so long, with going to WDW the past 2 years I've concentrated my efforts on learning a lot about there.

I'll tell you all a little about us and what we like so maybe it'll be easier for you guys to make appropriate recs. My Dad is a real foodie (we're going to The Cinnamon Club when were in London so you get the idea) - this trip is really for him really as he hasn't had a break in quite a long time, he likes things tasty, well presented, doesn't really mind the expense. My Mum goes along with anything, she's very laid back. I have Crohn's disease, have to be slightly careful but otherwise again I'm up for anything, I'm a vegetarian but occasionally eat fish too. Younger sister is very picky, likes to eat things she knows and isn't very adventureous.

Not sure how buffets would go down, don't think my Dad would like, so perhaps they're out. But anything else would be great, would be nice to hear everyones experiences, what the dining was like etc.

Thanks all! :thumbsup2

I'm not really a big foodie but the main places for top notch food seem to be Inventions and the California Grill at DLH, Waltz on Main Street, The Manhatten Restuarant at the HNY and the Yacht Club at the Newport Bay.

Personally I like Waltz, Cafe Mickey, The Blue Lagoon inside the POTC ride and Annettes in the Village.

California Grill is the best restaurant in the park, get some really interesting dishes in there. Remember having Pineapple Ravioli served with a Basil Sorbet.. Divine!

The Blue Lagoon was brilliant last time I ate there, but seems the subject of some very mixed reviews.

Cafe Mickey I find the food usually very good standard, but you are paying for a wonderful atmosphere, and if you don't mind it being a bit loud at time, I would recommend it.

Not eaten at inventions for a couple of years, but that was a good buffet meal.

For your Dad, definitely California Grill. If you're staying at the DLH I recommend you buy HB vouchers for your stay which will certainly save you money, lots at the present exchange rate as you pay in £s. You can eat at the California Grill on HB Premium. Inventions is also in DLH and is a buffet but the food is wonderful - loads of fresh prawns and langoustines, and great main courses and desserts.
Cafe Mickey is pretty standard food IMO and not worth HB Premium, but it's a character meal and does have a great atmosphere. The Blue Lagoon ought to be wonderful, and many people think it is, but I have had 2 disappointing meals there. It's in POTC right by the lake so the atmosphere is like nothing else, but service can be patchy and the food seems to be trying too hard to be unusual. If eating there I would stick to more standard fare which they can get right.
The Steakhouse in the Village has food of a very good standard.

We were pretty disappointed with the food in Cafe Mickey. We didn't mind so much because we knew we were paying for the atmosphere, but if you were going for the food, I personally wouldn't recommend it.

Walts has had so many good reviews on here that I'm sure our experience must have been a one off. It's a lovely restaurant with great service, but we were disappointed with our food here as well.

The Steakhouse in the village we were very impressed with. Our kids are fussy eaters, I don't eat much meat and DP loves all food and likes to try new things and we were all very pleased with the meal we ate here.

The other places we ate were mainly buffet, so can't really help you much more than that I'm afraid.

I would recommened Inventions even though it is a buffet the selection of food is wonderful and tastes fantastic and there is something for everyone.

Go for half board premium, I would go to the steakhouse (lovely foodie type food!), the California Grill and I would try the Blue Lagoon :goodvibes

I would recommend Inventions ....a buffet but a brilliant choice and definately Walts

We enjoyed Inventions, Cafe Mickeys (the pizza was really good), the steak house was ok and we really enjoyed our meal at King Ludwigs castle (which is not on the dining plan) but the food was really good.

Never been to California Grill but love all the reviews and menus :)

I would definitely also add Walts and Cafe Mickey.
Cafe Mickey for us is both the best character meal and great a la carte fayre :goodvibes

Thankyou everyone! I think we will definitely do California Grill and my Dad did actually seem to like the idea of Inventions (sure we went there when we last stayed, but I don't recall the meal totally...) when I mentioned it the other night in the car, whilst driving to cheerleading practice. :cheer2: So hopefully that's a couple of meals sorted. We'll only be there 3 nights, so perhaps one night we might go out into Paris somewhere I don't know.

But everyone has definitely given some great suggests and I'm sure we'll figure something. ::yes::
