Restaurant Recommendations for Chicago Area

Hey everyone! I want to try something different this weekend- Thai, Cajun, Indian, Moroccan, Sushi, something! Where should I go? I'd like to stay out of downtown, but I know that's probably where some of the best places are. What do you think?

My all-time favorite is Meson Sabika, a Spanish tapas restaurant in Naperville. Emilio used to be affiliated with it--his restaurants are also excellent and scattered around Chicagoland.
Rick Bayless's Mexican restaurants are superb--Frontera Grill is cheaper, Topolobampo is amazing.
We also love the Italian Village downtown--second floor.
Salbute, a Mexican restaurant in Hinsdale, is worth the trip.
And for a truly upscale, culinary delight of a restaurant, we love Vie in Western Springs (though it may be difficult to get in last minute.)
Oh, and for Cajun, don't forget Heaven on Seven. Drink lots!

A great Thai restaurant is Noodles in the Pot, on Halsted, near Fullerton in the DePaul area. I used to go there at least once a week when I worked at Children's Memorial since it's just down the street from it. It's usually very crowded at lunch time.

Italian Village and Heaven on Seven- Yum! Been to both places. Never tried Frontera, but hear it is great. Been to Adobo. Really good. What about sushie for a newbie? Anyone?

Anyone been to Dixie Kitchen? I have been hearing lots of ads on the radio. They have several locations, too.

We like RA Sushi in Glenview. It's owned by the same folks who own Beni Hana. I don't know if they have other locations in the area.

Big Bowl (there are several--we go to Lincolnshire and downtown) is good too. They have a lot of Thai dishes on their menu. Try the pomagranate gingerale--it's delicious.
