Restaurant Recommendation around HS/Epcot

We plan to go to HS our first day in the World. If everything goes smoothly and we aren’t waiting in line for the 3 attractions we want to see (TSM is one and the earliest we can get to the park is 11AM) then we may leave HS by 4.

Where is a good spot for an early dinner near HS? The restaurants in HS are booked so I’m thinking Boardwalk area, World Showcase in Epcot, any good restaurant in a resort (using the free dining plan) that takes 1 TS meal.

Really, I'm open to any suggestions. I'd really hoped for a princess meal for DD who's 5, but that was a bust - what I get for planning a last minute trip! We do have 2 character breakfasts with the classic characters so a "nice" dinner sounds pretty stinking good too.

What about ESPN? We have eaten there a couple of times and have enjoyed the food. They don't take ADR's, it's walk up. If you get there around 4:30 or 5:00, it's not that crowded. My 7 year old son at the time thought it was so cool to go to the bathroom and watch TV. :rotfl: That's boys for yeah.

Are the restaurants at Swan/Dolphin included on the Dining Plan? I know that's part of Disney but it always seems like they play by different rules. Might just be my ignorant perception. There are a couple there that look pretty NICE. Thanks!

I think the Boardwalk area is a great option. We love Spoodles, Flying Fish and Big River Grille and Brewing Works.

Spoodles - Good casual food with a nice atmosphere. Honestly usually do Breakfast here because they have Mimosa and Bloody Mary.

Flying Fish - A bit more upscale food, but still casual in dress and attitude.

BRG&BW - Great casual food - Usually no ADR needed. I know it gets bad reviews here, but it is a must do for our family they have a cheese soup that is just as good as LC In my opinion and they have good sandwiches. Love to get the flight of beers here. Also, you can sit on the patio and DD would have a place to be active on the boardwalk.

Happy Planning.

Nope, no DDP at the S&D.

Spoodles is good, Cape May Cafe clam bake at BC is good, ESPN, Big River Brewery, Captains Grille (formerly Yacht Club Galley) all are 1TS. There's also Beaches & Cream at BC, no ADR's and can have a long wait. Not considered a good value on DDP, but the food is good and the ice cream is even better :goodvibes

As far as Epcot, I like pretty much everything there ;) (I have always skipped Mexico & China because we can have that any day of the week at home). For a Princess meal, you can try Norway. It's 1 TS.

Unfortunately, the S/D restaurants aren't on the dining. I'd call to see what Epcot WS restaurants are available. We definitely prefer some over the others, but I'd take any of them over a non-Epcot restaurant. Naturally, that doesn't include Flying Fish, but that requires 2 TS credits. The Yachtsman Steakhouse also requires 2 TS, but I would recommend FF over that anyway.

If not Epcot, there's Beaches & Cream @ BC for sandwiches, o-rings, french fries, & ice cream in a variety of ways.

ESPN has a sports bar atmosphere & food like you'd expect in one. I've never been to Big River Grill, so I'm clueless about it.

After that your choices are Cape May Cafe, Spoodles, & Captain's Grill. If you like buffets, you may want to try the Clam Bake @ Cape May Cafe in the BC. If not, that leaves Spoodles @ BWI or Captain's Grill @ YC. After trying Epcot, I'd look up the menus & choose between those 2.

Sorry, I repeated much of your info. You're faster than I am. I have to reread my posts 15 times, before posting.

I definitely second the ESPN place, it was great tasting, nothing fancy american food. Their are TV's EVERYWHERE and the atmosphere is very cool.

We ate there this past March and got the nacho's for our app, and loved it:thumbsup2
