When DH and I went on our honeymoon 15 years ago we ate at a restaurant that was possibly at POR, then Dixie Landing. I am certain that it wasn't Boatright's. It was Cajun and the inside was lovely. Is it not there any longer? Or am I thinking of a different restaurant at another resort? DH is insisting that it was at POR but I'm not so sure. :confused3

I only remember Boatwright's, but there was a restaurant at POFQ. I can't remember the name. We ate there in 1994. Could it have been that?

Are you sure it wasn't over at French Quarter? They used to have table service over there but discontinued it years ago. I know that Boatwrights has been there since I first went in '99.

I bet it was the one in POFQ.

I wanted to go back there. We had a wonderful time. DH order Jambalaya with a beer called Blackened Voodoo Lager. The waiter warned him that the jam can get really spicy. DH thinks he can handle spicy food but he really can't. ;) So when he ate it his face turned BRIGHT red. He took a chug of beer to help clear the spice but it enhanced it instead. LOL!!! The waiter brought him some milk. DH finished it! We were laughing so hard. I enjoyed my mild shrimp alfredo.

The restaurant you're thinking of was in what is now Port Orleans French Quarter. It was called Bonfamilles (after Madame Bonfamille of the Aristocats) and it did have menu with a Cajun flair. We ate there frequently during the 90's. They used to have the most wonderful shrimp dish which you could have as an appetizer or entree. We never actually stayed in the hotel but used to make a special trip there just to eat in this restaurant.

We miss this restaurant very much. It closed right around the time the two resorts were renamed POR -French Quarter and POR - Riverside. I guess they felt like they didn't need both restaurants and for whatever reason, decided to keep Boatwrights and close Bonfamilles.

I also loved Bonfamilles! We would eat there much more often than Boatwrights when staying at Port Orleans/Dixie Landings. I can't imagine that they didn't get business, because it was always packed when we were in there. Such a shame that it's gone . . . .:sad2:
