hi guys,
i'm trying to find a good but reasonably priced (read that as inexpensive, cheap) chinese or asian restaurant in boston, hopefull near a T stop. any suggestions?

Thanks! :wave2:

Blue Line...Logan Airport...take flight to NY or LA.;)

Where's Hes when you need him...he might know better than I... but a lot of MIT-ers like Mary Chung(Central Square)-I didn't like it so much. Penang(Harvard Sq.)-not THAT cheap and not that great either. Smile-(Harvard)pretty decent Thai, decent prices. Tamarind House-(Porter Sq.)good Thai! (Can't recommend Harvard Sq. Pho Pasteur anymore!)

In town... I have no idea...Hes was talking about some places off the green line once, on Comm. Ave somewhere....

Yeah...ya got a date?;)

The New Shanghai restaurant in Chinatown is pretty good and not expensive. It's at 21 Hudson Street. Take either the Green Line (Boylston) or Orange Line (Medical Center), walk down Stuart/Kneeland Street then a left on Hudson.

Also on Hudson Street is Ginza for great sushi. Many nights they are open until 4am too.

Kaya (1366 Beacon Street) in Coolidge Corner is nice too. It's a Korean BBQ place. If you go with another couple it's fun to cook your meal at the table BBQ and share. You can also select many items off their menu. Take the Green Line to Coolidge Corner and walk about a block up Beacon, away from Harvard Street (CVS on right, Trader Joes on your left). They have two other locations too.
Kaya

Speaking of MIT, just thought of another one .... Royal East at 782 Main Street in Cambridge. I used to go there with friends very often and it's great. After dinner you can get ice cream at Toscanini's across the street.

maybe....

::yes::

:teeth:

booboo...know of any near bu or copley area? we want to go on NYE and then see the sculptures. :lovestruc :

If you want good chinese head to Chinatown....!

Try the ChinaPearl or King Fung or Chau Chow to name a few!
ChinaPearl is supposed to have great dimsum (haven't tried it...)

Or just stop at one where the locals eat..... sure sign that it good and cheap!

Ooh, love has touched our young budding filmmaker!:teeth:

How could I forget the food of my people;)... Korean might be a little pricier than the average CHinese rest. food bill but the Kaya on Boylston might be just the ticket location-wise (have no idea where the sculptures are going to be...I'm assuming one of the parks?)...so after a nice dinner of bulgogi (they should also have a sushi bar-Porter Sq. has one)and soju, a stroll to the parks...ice sculptures...fireworks...nice!:wave2:

If you want good Chinese food, you're really going to have to hit up Chinatown :) China Pearl (9 Tyler St) is a favorite of mine for Sunday dimsum, but definitely not for lunch or dinner... If you looking for a good date place, you should check out Shabu Zen on 16 Tyler Street (www.shabuzen.com). It's a Japanese Shabu-Shabu place, where you cook the food yourself in your own personal pot of boiling broth. It's a nice change from the usual Chinatown joint, and my bf and I have always had a good time here.

Sadly, the Copley area doesn't have too many good Asian restaurants, but I do like Chilli Duck (829 Boylston St) if you're into Thai. It's right in front of the Prudential Mall, so this would be prime location for you! Right next to it is Gyuhama, which serves up some decent sushi and other Japanese dishes. Also, there's a Pho Pasteur nearby (119 Newbury St), and when you're paying $6 for a big bowl of beef noodle soup, you really can't go wrong with that! :p Personally, I don't think Kaya on Boylston is particularly good, but that's just me.

Good luck with your restaurant search, and have fun with your, um, date ;) Just remember to check if the restaurant you want to go to is open on New Year's Eve!

Boo!!?? I thought you were Irish???

Hey - let's stalk Von and her date and follow them and take pictures and all that other fun stuff!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

I'm staying at the Westin Copley on the 31st.. Maybe I'll run into Von.. =)

Try: www.restaurant.com

Click on, "Restaurant dining certificates", and then Boston, Mass.
There were a few restaurants that may interest you.

It's a great website. :) You can download the certificates right after you purchase them! Great prices too.

Hope this helps!
