I have a question on something that drives me crazy...when you are in a restaurant and you have ordered your appetisers and specifically ask for the entree NOT to come at the same time as the appetisers...YET..they do!!!!!!!! do you have the right to send the entree back and request them after the appetiser..also request that they are not reheats when they are brought back to you? I would love your comments on this..thanks

You could do that but I might think you'd be likely to get a cold entree.

I just let them leave the apps and the entrees, I do not send it back...

The only places that we have had super rushed foods was Tutto and Tony's, what is it with us pushy Italians (I can say that cuz I am one!)

I'd send it back, especially if I was clear that I wanted the appetizers before the entree. If I was brought back out re-heats, I'd ask to speak to a manager and calmly explain what was going on and request fresh entrees. And, yes, if all of that happened, I'd most likely take my dissatisfaction out on the server through a poor tip.

You can send it back. I don't. I have friends that have worked in the industry for years and tell tales of spit and body fluids winding up in food .I just suck it up, if I am up front in the beginning about not wanting my entree till after my apps, I have never had a problem.

This never has been a problem for us. But I think I might go ahead and order an app, and tell the server we're still thinking about an entree selection and order after the app has arrived.

This seems to be The Disney "race", serve all the food at once and turn the table quickly. This trip in Februrary I learned my lesson. I would let the server know I wanted a relaxing meal and I would first order the appetizers and when they came I would tell them I hadn't decided what I wanted for my main dish. I wasn't rude about it and within 5 or ten minutes they always came back for the rest of the order. I don't mind rushing through a CS meal, but when I'm spending +150.00 for a TS meal I want to enjoy it.

That may be the best thing to do - order the entrees only after you receive the appetizer.

:idea:This is a really great tip. Thanks!!!

I agree..when Im spending that much money I want to take my time..I will take your advice...I'll order the appetiser then tell them Im still deciding about the entree...that way it saves a big headache. :thumbsup2

This is what we do so there isn't any mistakes

I would be afraid they'd spit in it or something, so I would just keep it.

This is a bad reaction, because your actual beef is with the chefs in the kitchen mistiming their apps/entrees. The server has absolutely no control over this.

That's not always true. If you have made it clear to your server that you want the two courses to be served with some time between them, the server shouldn't leave your entree order with the kitchen until they are picking up the apps. Also the apps could have been waiting on the server to pick up and caused the app and entree to catch up with each other. I am with the other poster I wouldn't send it back, afraid of what might happen before it was returned. The only way to be sure is to order app, then when it's delivered order entree..

This happens to us too
I try to remember to order app. then order main meal

I like a long slow dinner

We're tired of this happening all the time so we do what other posters mentioned...

We order our drinks/apps... WAIT for the apps to come and then order the entrees. We've done it at disney all the time. They might not be too happy about it but it works out for us. I wouldn't recommend sending back the entrees. First, they will almost 100% definitely just keep those entrees warm and won't make new ones. Second? you NEVER know what they could do... bleh.

If I want the entrees after the apps, I will always do this. That way there's no confusion, no one gets messed up food and I still get my entrees later.

And one rule I have always had is to never be rude with the people preparing your food.

For a customer being ridiculous, I and some of my food industry friends, have no problem taking much longer to prepare the food, making it incorrectly or anything that wouldn't be favorable. I have never seen or done myself the whole putting bodily fluids in the food however but I am sure it happens.

After many meals (at a few Disney restaurants and many around here) this is exactly what we always now do--order drinks first, then the appetizer. ONLY when that shows up do we place our dinner order. A good kitchen should be able to time things well, but many do not. And as one poster notes, many Disney restaurants try to rush you, believing (correctly in many cases) that folks are in a big hurry to eat and get back to the parks, etc.
Should note that many servers actually appreciate not having to rush to serve us and they can spend more time dealing with the many who are in a big hurry.
As to sending the entree back--we've voiced our displeasure when the entree used to arrive too soon, but only once have we sent it back. That was at a restaurant when the appetizer AND the entree both came out at the same time!! And the runner (wasn't our server) who brought it all out seemed to have trouble understanding it was something that should never have happened.

I never send food back- I don't want "extra" ingredients to be added in & yes, this does happen more often than not. People are people. :sad2:

I've always done what a pp suggested, order my appetizer with the drink orders, then have the waiter come back after they put that order through.
