Is this for real, or too good to be true? A $100 gift certificate for $40, but with the 80% off code, $8??? Has anyone been denied using the certificates at restaurants? I thought the site was legit but it's hard to believe lol.

Also, do they email the certificates? We leave for our trip soon AND we live in Canada, and some sites won't send us stuff.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

It has worked for me - they don't mail the certificates you have to print them out. They are good for a year and usually have a minimum you need to spend in order to use them. (Like you must spend 35 bucks to use a 25 dollar certificate)

Happy Eating!

I've bought 4 of them and was able to use 3. The fourth one I had almost a year before I tried to use it last week. The place had changed ownership, and were no longer accepting them. I just emailed Restaurants.com (per their instructions) and that day they gave me credit to buy another certificate for a different restaurant. It was all resolved in a day! I had bought them all with discount codes, and wondered how they would credit me. They just gave me the face amount of the certificate ($25) to purchase another one.
We usually have zero to two restaurants for our area listed, which is why I haven't used them more.
Just remember the restrictions listed for the certificate, for example a $25 one might say you must spend $35 before you can use it, or it might have certain days and hours. I always check that really well before purchasing.

Thanks guys, I noticed that underneath where you choose the cert they will say things like: you must buy at least 2 entress. Are those the only restrictions or should I be looking somewhere else.

BTW, I called the # and asked about being from Canada since to input the address, USA is the only option. They said that non-US people have to put in a US address, and if you don't know anyone, you can put in the Restaurant.com corporate address. wierd.

:goodvibes Yep it;s legit! We use them here all the time and almost all of mine were bought during an 80% off sale. The merchant has no idea how much you paid for the certifcate. I've never had a restaurant deny one and have been using them for at least two years now.

I've used them quite often and they rarely have much of restrictions other than something like you must buy 2 entrees. Each is a bit different, just check what they say on them. They are a great deal if you eat at those restaurants.

Oh, and be sure to give it to them as you order. Some restaurants are picky about that.

We have never had a problem using them. Each restaurant may have their own restrictions which are clearly listed on the certificate you print out. We love them!

Yes Restaurants.com is legit. I've used them at a few local places. I usually wait until they are 80 or 90% off. $25 cert. for only $1 or $2. You need to order $35 of food (not inc. drinks) to use certificate so you'll be paying $12 for $35 of food (not inc. beverages or tip) You don't even have to buy a beverages, most times we get waters.

In California our cert. never exp. Most states they are good for one year.

The 80% code is good until Aug. 31st.

Most sales end at the end of the month. Restaurants.com reloads their certificates at the beginning of the month. So if you wait until the end of the month some of the more popular ones will be gone. Once you do an order you'll get emails with codes. I've never paid full price, even at the beginning of the month you can get 50%.

Sometimes I'll order the cerit. just before we leave for the restaurant. Only takes a few min. to receive. Also, after you use it you'll get an email survey checking to see how things went.

All in all a good deal-we use one at our local sushi place quite often (limit of once a month)

I bought some last year for four restaurants and subsequently 2 of the restaurants stopped accepting them. That leaves me with 4 certificates I paid for, but can no longer use. Does Restaurant.com give refunds?

I used this yesterday for a local place near me. There were only like 6 choices. Then I did a search for zip code 32830, that's the Kissimmee area. Lots of places over there, including Arabian Knights and Pirates Dinner Adventure.

Their website tells you how to get a refund. And they will give one, without any problems.

I use them often when I eat in NYC. It actually has worked out cheaper to use the certificate and get dessert than not! Good excuse for warm chocolate cake!!:lovestruc

What is the 80% off code?
when you get to the checkout point there will be a place to enter a discount code: enter TASTE.

I, too, used to think that this really seemed too good to be true, but found that it is completely legit! My suggestion is to read the fine print or requirements for where you want to dine. The one we choose is that you get $25 off, but must spend $35 before tax/tip. It CAN incl beverages. It also states that they will add an automatic 18% gratuity. Ours does not carry any entree requirements. You could get appetizers/desserts/drinks and as long as you spend the $35, you are good to go. And yes, do give it to them before ordering. Enjoy, I love finding a good deal like this! :goodvibes

One thing that I have noticed is that the variety of certificates seems to be better at the beginning of the month. It's almost like the ones that are left at the end of every month go on "clearance." So they start at full price and then start marking them down 50, 60, 70, and then 80% each month as the month goes on.

We found one of our favorite restaurants using restaurant.com. Didn't even know it was there until we got the certificate and tried it. Now we got every month.

DH & I just ate at a restaurant.com restaurant last night. I probably would not have tried this place if I didn't have the $25 GC (that I'd gotten for $3.75). The service was really good, the food was excellent. Before the tip, our total for appetizers, soup and entree was $30 for the two of us. I'll definitely try this place again and I can't wait to try out some of the other places I have GCs for!

Just FYI, the code works for the Dinner of the Month Club as well. I just purchased a twelve month membership for my parents for $24 (80% off the $120price). They'll get a $25 certificate each month to redeem for whatever restaurant(s) they want. And I also got a free $50 certificate to redeem myself. And the $50 can be redeemed in any increments (5 $10's, 2 $25's, 1 $50, etc...). A good deal IMO :cool1:

can anyone tell me if you have to print these out right away?? i don't have a printer hooked up to my laptop and would have to wait till i got to work to do it! can i order it now or should i wait till i have a printer??
